Is no one else happy that this just means that the cycle continues? We need at least another 10 game winning streak followed by a full year of defeats imo.

It's almost boxing day. That's when the cycle starts.

"We lost the game today cause we was thinking about whether or not cranberry should go in our turkey staffing sandwiches from the clab Christmas party. I blame  Waitrose"

i smell a pardew peak now, 4-6 unbeaten winning 2-3 that'll pull them away from the crowd a little

he'll then s*** the bed and it'll be freefall until may and a frantic effort to avoid relegation which he'll just manage

rinse and repeat 2017-2018

They have Hull next then Man Utd and Chelsea, still think he will be gone by New Year's Day.

Delighted they won.

They'll probably beat Hull too, then Man U and Chelsea will rinse them but that'll be OK because it's Man U and Chelsea, so nobody will notice that another free fall is starting and we'll be well into the January transfer window and he'll have spunked all their money away on shite.

That shite will arrive at the club un-Pardewed, so they may actually pick up a bit for a while but then he'll work his usual magic on the training ground and they'll finish the season 17th but with a string of LLLLLLs

Rinse and repeat over summer.

Manager to watch – Alan Pardew

The cat that got not only the cream, but also a bath of milk, a salmon supper and a scratch behind the ear, all before curling up in front of the fireplace after dragging the corpse of a dead bird into the living room. As laboured as the metaphor is, the point remains the same: The King is back.

Alan Pardew wasted barely any time in being Alan Pardew after Crystal Palace secured a 3-0 win over Southampton last week. “We have a lot of serious investors at the club who perhaps don’t know a lot about football,” he said, “so the chairman has been defending me this week.”

“It’s hard to dress up six defeats when you are the owner of a club where you have investors,” he would add, ensuring that the rod he had just made for his own back was firmly out of sight. Because if Palace follow up a supposedly job-saving victory with anything less than a win over Hull on Saturday, then Pardew is not back to square one, but behind where he started in the first place.

As vital as beating Southampton was, the subsequent fixture has now taken on even greater importance. A win for Hull would put the two sides level on points, and the spring in Pardew’s step would be forgotten as he trips over his ego and, potentially, through the Selhurst Park exit.

I don't even mind managers who have big egos if they have something to brag about like, say Mourinho. This is like a bloke bringing a donkey to the Grand National telling everyone to just hand over the trophy right now.
