Saido Berahino stays at West Brom

Recommended Posts

If we go to 25 surely they will accept?

That's the point though, we apparently are not going to and it will be another case of not getting our man because we want to squabble over a few million.

It's easy saying that sitting on a laptop. When you actually have to decide , it's a different matter.

Giver over man  this sort of money is a drop in the ocean to PL clubs, which is why the better ones will usually overpay to get who they want. Sometimes you have to and we never do what's necessary to get it done.

Both clubs know there is time left in the window. Its up to us to decide whether to pay extra now or move on. West Brom will hold out til the last minute tmrw imo. (Leaving themselves a bit of time to get someone else in.

My only flaw in the not selling to premiership rivals theory is, if we will likely spend that money on someone that will have at least an equal impact why wouldn't you take the money for a player you won't play and improve your squad with the money.

There must be a player out there cracking enough to drop 20 mil on and would do same job - maybe a mental offer for ighalo :-). I truly believe they are having a go and trying to get the players to stay up, can't help thinking we might be best securing a centre half to help stop the goals instead now :-)

And if they wanted 40m and we wouldn't pay?

"We tried lolz". "All these fake bids nd that."

We are clearly close to their fee. We may pay, we may not.

The Express & Star reported on Friday that Tony Pulis's side would not be selling last season's top scorer to relegation-threatened Newcastle - who are just seven points behind the Baggies.

There is also reported interest from title-chasers Tottenham Hotspur, and Albion - despite publicly saying the 22-year-old is not for sale - would listen to offers of more than £20 million, as long as they are not from Newcastle.

Berahino made a timely return to the starting XI on Saturday, netting twice as the Baggies were held to a 2-2 draw by Peterborough in the FA Cup.

And chairman Jeremy Peace does not want to risk strengthening a rival in the bottom half of the table with Premier League survival - and next year's multi-million-pound new television deal - at stake.

Berahino has them over a barrel here, his value is dropping by the day and he's not signing a new contract.

£21m was arguably too much so, whilst it's admirable to see a smaller club keeping their assets, I'm not sure it makes financial sense. Are they really in relegation trouble? It's not like they play him anyway.
