Hopefully these predictions of them suddenly putting together a stunning run of wins (despite them being pathologically allergic to them for the last 2+ seasons) are as accurate as the predictions about us definitely not winning another home game.

22nd-place in the past 10 Championship seasons:

51 - 40 - 41 - 44 - 54 - 40 - 42 - 47 - 46 - 52

It's unlikely to be one of those three freakish 50+ seasons, meaning they need around 44pts for survival. That's 18pts from 13 games.

Being kind to them, they need 20pts from their last 13 games (currently on 26 from 33).

That's 6 wins, 2 draws, 5 defeats. Unlikely.

It's a weird season, at the bottom of both leagues. Look at the points total in the PL and, historically you would think we are almost there, but we probably need to target more than is the norm to be sure of survival. But if you look at the champo(aka pub league), the Mackems could get away with a lot lower than is generally the rule of thumb. Honestly those teams along for the ride with the Mackems are awful too, the only wins that look likely for any of them appear to be when they are playing each other.

Hard to put a points target on it right now but surely they can't continue to just stay in touch, there is a small gap now to the others, psychologically that's going to be hard to overcome the larger it gets.

They don't, they just think they're not definitely gone. Stranger things have happened. We live in a world where Donald Trump is president, man. [emoji38]

Barnsley and Hull have a game in hand. It’s against each other as well. If either team wins it opens up the gap.

So effectively they are 4 points from safety as it stands with a slightly better goal difference? It's quite amazing to see them have so many bad results without being cut adrift still. Since the turn of the year they've lost 6 out of 8, getting 4 points conceding 16 and scoring just 5 (2 of which were own goals). Yet here they are, still in with a fairly good chance to turn it around if they somehow manage to piece a few decent results together. If they do go down from here they can have absolutely no complaints and I would sooner back them to keep sinking in league one rather than turn their fortunes around anytime soon what with Short now unwilling to put any further money in. They've acted like billy big bollocks for years on the back of his continued outside funding and now they are finding out where they would have been all along if it wasn't for him pouring hundreds of millions of his own money in over the past decade for precious little return.
