Ugh. Moyes didn't even wait for a payoff. Daftie.

Oh well. One more bad managerial appointment and they're in the wilderness for a while. Do your stuff sunderland.

You assume there was money to pay him off with.

Poor Moyes, never mind could have been worse/better (depending upon whether you prefer red or black with your white):

P.S. Tsunami, if you read it don't worry mate nee chance we'll sign any of those Southampton dwarfs (for a start, some of them are dead  O0)

Graeme Bailly seemed to think it's Kevin Ball but surely they're not giving up that easily

Would hate it to be a Monk but I don't think he'd go there.

Just gutted he's gone, he was doing so well :(

Leeds to sunderland is a step down. No chance they'll get him. I'd be surprised if they get a manager who is currently emplyed anyway. First of all, they're skint so the compensation would be a big stumbling block and I struggle to see why any manager already in a job would quit to go there. They go through a ridiculous amount of managers and it's common knowledge that the next manager will have virtually no transfer kitty and a crowd that will turn on him if he's not winning straight away. Remember Moyes was confronted in his dug out in his very first home game in charge.

I think Monk will be who they end up going for, and will be a good appointment if they can convince him. Players wise, he could also bring some from Leeds if they get any cash from parachutes and sales, but yeah future doesn't look that great. I'd say getting losing Moyes though is a good thing for them. He was colossally shit and I'd have no confidence in him in the championship if I were them.

Might stick £100 on these going down again...

They are fucked like. Mono would be a good appointment usually, but they are that fucked, I think no one can help them at the moment. The need a new owner above all else!

They need somebody with the nous to tear it all down and build from scratch, if what Gus Poyet said about the underlying culture is anything to go by.

Financially they're clearly a basket case right now. However, they have the catchment area and attendances to be in a better spot than many clubs who are well-run - Burnley, Bournemouth, even West Brom and Stoke. I presume their kids are at least half-decent based on their U-23 position. If they can hire a manager with a clear football philosophy and build a team to fit that then I can see them come back up in a year or two with a far more solid foundation. It seems to me that clinging on for the last couple of years has only been counter-productive.

For some reason they seem to think Thierry Henry "is a massive lads fan".

Weirdos.

He made comments about them singing at half time in the derby when Defoe hit that screamer, so aye, therefore he's a MLF.

They need someone who is larger than life, someone who can play down too much expectations but at the same time deliver front foot football, someone who is unattached so won't cost a pretty penny, someone who can find a talent on a shoestring, enter the man, the myth, the humble legend, Alan the saviour Pardew. It has to happen, absolutely has to.
