So one former player who was absolute s**** says it meaning they all think the same? I’m not defending them, but we get enough s**** for numpties posting s**** as individuals about us as the best fans, big club etc.

RTG is full of similar back patting threads about them being the best fans in the country etc.

Fair enough, I tend not to go on there as it makes my eyes bleed. In fact I’m sure I got conjunctivitis from reading a few threads over there the other day,.

"Classiest" if I remember correctly.

Their side would need to fly places for that to happen. There aren't many international airports around league 1 clubs IIRC.

"A Sunderland fan makes a deal with the devil to beat Newcastle six in a row" - fucking hell man

Proof that Newcastle is a much bigger club when they have books and shit for just simply beating us. It's like a non-league club getting a Premier League scalp in the cup.

"A Sunderland fan makes a deal with the devil to beat Newcastle six in a row" - f***ing hell man

Without reading it, I imagine this would be a brief synopsis:

Chapter 1: A sunderland fan makes a deal with the devil to beat Newcastle six in a row

Chapters 2 - 7: Every match described in the most precise and minute detail, each given it's own chapter.

Chapter 8: Errr, what was the premise of this again? Never mind, 6 in a row, FTM, horse punchas, Jordie Nashun, gravy stained....oh yeah, Satan or something.

Epilogue: Haha 6 in a row, horse punchas, Jordie Nashun, gravy-stained, lol, Rafa, f*ck Islam, Britain First, EDL and FTM.

Making football affordable is indeed a good thing if done for the right reasons. Make no mistake there is nothing noble about these price reductions it's simply desperation from a club who's fans have deserted them big time and they know a whole lot more will be jumping ship soon.

In fact is it even morally questionable to be pricing entry at a level which competes with struggling local non league clubs ?

 strange bunch

Mackems I work with now don’t like football and the PL is now completely ruined and not worth watching at all.  When we went down the PL was the only league in the world according to them

?Aye. Seems that the magnificent "our fans" are justified in deserting their club because they've had it so bad for so long. But wasn't it just about a year and a half ago they were walking in a Fat Sam wonderland and looking forward to dominating north east football for the rest of time?

They're a fickle bunch. Always have been.

Quite correct It's a move motivated by desperation. If they could get away with charging £500+ for a season ticket then that is what they would do. They proved with the Johnson saga that this image they paint of being a family, community minded club is pretty questionable when they kept quiet and allowed a nonce to continue to ply his trade in front of 1000s of kids.

The reality is that the fanbase has desterted them, crowds have halved in less than 12 months, and despite them staring administration in the face they've been reduced to slashing season ticket prices and are even prepared to give huge a number away for free. Seems a strange strategy when gate receipts become ever more important as the TV money starts to disappear.

Potentially, if they can get more people through the doors they can offset the ticket price reduction through sales of food, drink and other merchandise. Assuming they haven't outsourced all of it already.

An U8 needs to be accompanied by an adult - giving away an U8 ticket also sells at least one adult ticket too.

Otherwise the likeliness is that neither the U8 or adult would buy one. Childrens tickets in L1 are relatively cheap anyway, by offering this grand gesture they’ll actually make more money by selling more adult tickets.

Plus the enhanced food and drink sales across the season.

The author needs to write a sequel where the Devil tells the Sunderland fan who struck the deal that it's now time to pay the price. He could base the book on everything that's happened to SAFC since they did 6 in a row.

Yep ?

Makes sense now. Division 1 must be Mephistopheles‘s revenge. He’s landed them all in an ever present private hell.

Echoes of Devil's Advocate, where Keanu Reeves does a deal with the devil and ends up having to defend a paedophile.
