Dave
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/rafa-benitez-not-walk-out-11102967 Rafa Benitez will NOT walk out on Newcastle United despite unhappiness over transfer market misses The Spaniard has missed out on a number of targets and his relationship with the key decision-makers has been stretched BY NEIL MOXLEY 22:30, 2 SEP 2017 Rafa Benitez will NOT walk out on Newcastle United. The Toon chief has decided to stay put and see how the campaign pans out at St James’s Park after he was left fuming following the closure of the transfer window. Benitez has been left licking his wounds after a string of near-misses in the market but will soldier on for the sake of the Toon Army. The Spaniard feels a debt of loyalty to a group of supporters who have put him on a pedestal during his time on Tyneside. He knows that walking out on them could precipitate a collapse in the club’s fortunes and is unwilling to see last season’s hard work - where he won the Championship title at the first time of asking – go to waste. However, his relationship with the key decision-makers has been stretched and other clubs will now be well aware of his issues with those above him. A whopping compensation figure of £5million-plus will be payable by either side in the event of a split. It remains to be seen if any other interested parties – most notably West Ham – will be prepared to write a cheque to Newcastle owner Mike Ashley secure the services of the ex-Real Madrid chief. The Hammers were thumped on a trip to the north-east only last week. Despite receiving a vote of confidence from West Ham co-owner David Sullivan, boss Slaven Bilic’s position remains under serious threat. However, the Hammers’ board have a track record of standing by their managers, a position that could change if the crowd at the London Stadium turn against the Croatian during their game against Huddersfield Town next Monday night. Sullivan and fellow co-owner David Gold are also notoriously reluctant to pay any figure of compensation – adding another stumbling block to any deal involving Newcastle’s disgruntled boss.
Dave
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/849359/Rafa-Benitez-West-Ham-News-Transfer-News-Slaven-Bilic Rafa Benitez linked with West Ham job: Slaven Bilic has a month to turn things around RAFA BENITEZ has been lined up to become the next manager of West Ham United, despite the club giving Slaven Bilic a month to save his job. By NEIL FISSLER PUBLISHED: 22:46, Sat, Sep 2, 2017 The Sunday Express understands that Newcastle United boss Benitez will take over at the London Stadium if he leaves St James’ Park. Bilic had crisis talks with Hammers co-owner Dave Sullivan after his side lost their opening three games. And the Croatian rejected the chance to strengthen his squad with Bayern Munich’s Renato Sanches, who joined Swansea, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Grzegorz Krychowiak, who moved to West Brom on loan. Meanwhile, Benitez is considering his future in the northeast after being denied the funds he believed he needed to strengthen his squad. Benitez is highly thought of by the Hammers board and came close to taking over at the club two years ago, until Real Madrid hijacked their bid. He does have a £6million exit clause in his Newcastle contract. :thdn:
CaliMag
So ideally we want WHam to win every game from now until we play them away. I wish the best for them, I really do.
polkaDot
Rafa's here for the long haul. Ashley has no idea of who it is he's now fucking around.
Guest ElCid
Not a chance he's staying with Ashley only a matter of time if it wasn't for his current dilemma of having to pay up to leave he would be away already. Just waiting for a club to pay it for him and then adios amigo and he will be right to do so also.
HaydnNUFC
He'll see out the season at the very least imo. The January window, I'm not sure what to expect. Hopefully we're not in a position where we're fretting about whether he'll be in the dugout for Burnley (h), which is on January 31st.

Superior Acuña
Given the market for players now, surely 5 mil is fuck all to obtain the services of a manager of aRafa's calibre
mrmojorisin75
Given the market for players now, surely 5 mil is fuck all to obtain the services of a manager of aRafa's calibre Exactly, we got £3m compo for Pardew for fucks sake.
SSFC
Given the market for players now, surely 5 mil is f*** all to obtain the services of a manager of aRafa's calibre Yeah Im guessing West Ham will look at it this way. Pay 5 million to all but secure (or to the best of their ability) that they maintain PL status and then have a competent, proven winner at the helm. Or grab whomever and hope they dont continue to slide and end up relegated and lose potentially 100's of millions. 5 million buys them piece of mind, will instantaneously rally the supporters, and long term they have a guy who they dont need to dump to take the proverbially next step along the way. Hmmm.... I was never really worried all that much till late in the window and more so now. Its really just the cost of young unknown player at this point away from happening. STM
The fact he hasn't already quit tells me he will almost certainly stay until the summer. I don't think he will leave us for a West Ham.

Guest chopey
It will be interesting to see Rafa's reaction if West Ham agree to pay the compensation and Ashley gives permission for him to talk to them, he might just think "what's the point"

Would you quit if you had to pay 5 million it's the only reason he hasn't already however when another club pays it then he will be off
Zero
It will be interesting to see Rafa's reaction if West Ham agree to pay the compensation and Ashley gives permission for him to talk to them, he might just think "what's the point" Why is Ashley permission needed here if West Ham willing to pay it? Si
Because it's tapping up our manager.
AyeDubbleYoo
It's not a release clause is it? It's more like compensation due, which West Ham would agree to cover instead of Rafa himself. So it doesn't automatically give them the right to talk to him, they would have to ask NUFC for permission. I guess we would give permission so it's a moot point in a way. He won't go until at least the end of the season IMO.
Zero
Because it's tapping up our manager. Tapping up players are "banned", but is tapping up managers banned as well? Never heard of this.
