Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

The most bizarre thing about the whole situation is that it makes no business or financial sense. There is a very good chance we will be relegated now which means the club and Ashley lose millions. Transfer fees are only going to get more insane so waiting for January or next summer is foolhardy as the players are only going to cost more and more money. It's so unbelievably shortsighted and fundamentally flawed that it actually makes my brain hurt.

If we survive by the skin of our teeth though... Guess who wins again.

We previously bought Alan Shearer and Micheal Owen, England's top strikers at the time.  Now we don't have two pennies to rub together while the league is the richest its ever been.

 It's absolutely ridiculous. We can't even compete with West Brom, ffs.

We can't even compete with clubs in the Championship if that Fulham bid was genuine

If pundits and journos cant see this then they are dense as fck.

We've gone form 75 million debt to 130 million debt under Ashley's ownership.

75 million doesn't even buy you Lukaku now.

That's wrong actually. While it's true that Ashley risks missing out on the big TV money if we get relegated, he can always just cut his cloth accordingly if we go down and still make a decent profit. Plus Sports Direct will still get international marketing for nothing, albeit with reduced impact. The alternative means investing a lot of money with no guarantees of success, although obviously it will make it much more likely.

Not with that attitude!

It may seem unlikely, but that's entirely because of our dampened expectations, the players we've signed under Ashley, and the constant 'deluded Geordies' brush we're all tarred with imo. Under Rafa, with a club that's actively attempting to improve and match Rafa's ambition, there's little reason that we couldn't have attracted the likes of Dzeko and Sturridge and paid the necessary wages. It wouldn't be completely out of the question, look at the sort of 'names' that Stoke and Boro have signed in recent years.

Nah Dzeko is completely and utterly unrealistic under any circumstance and nothing like what Stoke and Boro have bought.

He's the first choice striker for one of the best teams in Italy and scored 39 goals last season in 51 games.

Would cost upwards of 40m and even then Roma wouldn't sell, that's without even discussing the wages. Even if we had the reputation we had under Sir Bobby he's not realistic.

Okay then mole.

John Richardson saying Rafa had lined up deals for Sturridge and/or Dzeko to join us?

We would never have left Sturridge go this season and his wages is around 150k .Klopp and Sturridge (who stated he didn't want to move) both made it clear every early in the window.

Don't think Sturridge was a realistic target for any club this season.

So doubt it's true.

This summer I didn't think we would.

I did think however they'd be able to secure a loan deal for that Southampton defender, or pay £6m for a keeper, £12m for a number 10. Scandalous that we didn't.

Are the club trying to say we'd have got into debt if we'd not got rid of De Jong, Hanley, Lazaar, Krul and Riviere after we'd signed Joselu? That's at very least 1-2 of the above paid for surely?

Disgusting.

It's obviously not true. Dzeko just finished top scorer in Italy and they ran Juve really close for the title. I don't think there's ever been a case of a promoted team signing a 40 goal season striker from one of the biggest clubs in Europe  If you're going to lie at least make up names that are somewhat realistic.

I'm really not trying to be that guy btw  Just being honest.

You would have to say Dzeko and Sturridge would have needed to have pay rises to come from champions league clubs to relegation candidates? Not to mention the release clauses, we would have been staring at Townsend situation all over if it would have ever been even a glimmer of those types of deals coming off.

I think you would have to be considered off your nuts if anyone thought there would have been any reality in those types of signings.

The fees the wages  and clauses, plus would those players really swap.

Charnley would be incapable of signing Bobby Davro for the Christmas do. Next home game everyone should vent at the prick

Bobby Davro

Even though his surname is similar to the first name of retired Croation striker Davor Suker, the two are not in fact related.
