Hah. Mental man. Sissoko is worth 13m I'm worth least half that. Bet I'm just as fast and fit if not fitter than him and I also have pretty low passing and control

Sissoko is 26 with over 100 PL appearances and 40 caps for a good French side and people are valuing him less than Shelvey who we bought from the Swansea bench  Doesn't really matter if we think he's lazy, if clubs want him they have to pay the going rate. Not really difficult to understand.

What is the going rate for a complete bottle job who's non performances were instrumental in relegating his team?

It's all subjective isn't it? Jurgen Klopp might think it's £12m. Mr Magoo might think £3.99.

The beauty of selling is the cloak of invisibility you can pull over 95% of a player's performances.  A couple of good games, good crosses and an ability to run fast go a long way.

It's like selling paintings to the blind

Cabella went for 7.5m and I'd say he is better and shown more in a NUFC shirt than thauvin ever has.

Keep thauvin in the championship when he dosent want to be here and can't even handle the physicality of the premiership or sell for 8m and get another similar player as Gayle. I know what I would prefer. That's what I'm getting at.

Sell Thavin, Wijnaldum and Sissoko (internationals all) for 8m each, and buy Championship players like Gayle and Ritchie (who cost 12m and 13m each)? That's your thesis?

I don't think they are worth more than that though and neither must anybody else as it stands.

It's the first week of July, you fucking spanner.

RAFAEL BENITEZ has been told Middlesbrough have no intention of selling Spanish defender Daniel Ayala after Newcastle United turned the focus to strengthening the defence.

Ayala, rated in the £15m bracket on Teesside, was one of the Championship’s best defenders last season and his performances for Boro have caught the eye of a number of top-flight clubs.

Benitez, who signed his compatriot during his time in charge of Liverpool in 2007, has identified Ayala as one of the ideal players to lead a promotion charge next season.

Queens Park Rangers’ Steven Caulker, who spent part of last season on loan at Liverpool, is another high in the thinking, with the Newcastle boss on the look-out for defenders boasting experience of the second tier.

It is the same approach he has used to successfully target Bournemouth’s Matt Ritchie and Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle, but persuading Middlesbrough to part with Ayala will be more problematic.

Aitor Karanka, the Middlesbrough head coach, knows how important Ayala will be as he looks to make the team a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League next season.

And Ayala, who did have a disagreement with his boss last season over a fitness issue, is also happy at the Riverside Stadium and settled, so it would be difficult for Newcastle to prise him away.

Caulker would be a much easier deal to do, with QPR keen to offload his £30,000-a-week wages ahead of another season outside the Premier League.

Newcastle, armed with parachute payments and the prospect of substantial savings by selling the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Georginio Wijnaldum, would not have a problem in matching the former England Under-21 international’s pay demands.

Benitez is also in the market to sign Spanish defender Alvaro Arbeloa, who he had at Liverpool. Arbeloa is a free agent and interested in taking on the challenge of taking Newcastle back up.

Steven Taylor’s departure at the end of his contract is likely to be followed by Fabricio Coloccini, who is in talks with San Lorenzo, leaving so there are a couple of holes to fill in the squad with defenders.

Whoever comes in will be competing with Chancel Mbemba and Jamaal Lascelles to play at the heart of the defence next season, with the latter looking forward to a full campaign under Benitez.

Lascelles said: “I was over the moon about Benitez, honestly. It was such a breath of fresh air that he was staying, I think that was the same for everyone as well, especially the fans and also the staff.

“What he did towards the end of the season was unbelievable, it’s just a shame we couldn’t do it properly.

“But I’m really pleased that he’s here and this time we’ve got a full season with him so who knows what we can do?”

What the fuck is this logic?  Ayala only has 2 or 3 premier league starts a few years ago for Liverpool as well as flit around the championship on loan at the likes of Derby and yo-yo club Norwich before joining the smoggies but isn't fluttering eye lashes with talk of 15 million smackeroons but we're pensioning off our purples for prices half that..    :iamatwat:

Wijnaldum in his first season in a struggling side got double figures and who knows how Sissoko would perform longer term under a respected manager with a decent plan.

In that instance I would like £25 million for Wijnaldum and at least £20 million for Sissoko please, thank you very much.  If not, then we keep. Simples.

Both proven to be quality premier league players on their day, these unknown Johnny foreigners going for dafty millions are not.

Is Ayala any good then?

Academic anyway since boro don't want to sell, and it's unlikely that the player will want to drop down to the championship after just getting out of it.

Aye, but Middlesbrough...

Don't want him anyway tbh. £15m for a player who's never done anything in the PL before is mental, no matter how good he was in the Championship.

Anyone that Rafa wants to sign is alright by me.
