LFEE
Ritchie needs Yedlin. End of story really. No legs behind him to overlap and he'll be pretty ineffectual.

SSFC
Ritchie needs Yedlin. End of story really. No legs behind him to overlap and he'll be pretty ineffectual. I was just coming to say this exact point. He played miles better (atleast consistently) with Yedlin overlapping because teams have to respect the pace of Yedlin. So Im waiting to see how he does when Yedlin is back. Should have more time and space and if teams still collapse towards him then its up to Yedlin to make them pay by putting dangerous balls into the box and at that point the attackers doing their job. Varadi
Think he might be worth a try in the number 10 role, can play decent through balls and has a good shot off both feet - just doesn't have the legs to take on Premier League full backs. Minhosa
I like him but these first two games he's been atrocious. That first time shot in the first half was fantastic technique. Technically very hard to pull that shot off. That said, he's not going to have anywhere near the influence this year.
Yorkie
Ritchie needs Yedlin. End of story really. No legs behind him to overlap and he'll be pretty ineffectual. Yep. The injuries to both him and Dummett have been very influential to us so far. Ritchie was on the left today because our left-back was very much a makeshift one; having Atsu in front of Mbemba would have been the riskier call. But from an attacking point if view it meant that Ritchie's only option was to either beat his man (which he doesn't have the pace to do), or cut in on his right (which is very much his weaker side). Atsu then having a poor game down the other flank left us completely toothless down both wings. Ritchie made no difference in the middle either. Can't see him being any use in that role. We really are devoid of both quality and depth when it comes to our attacking options; it's really quite worrying. We're gonna have to hope Murphy makes the grade but when he was stood on the touchline I noticed how slight he is, which leaves me quite concerned too. Gulp, basically. Gallowgate Toon
Ritchie had a disrupted preseason, tbf. He doesn't look completely fit and needs to play into a bit of form. He's not a top Premier League wide man but he is better than he's shown so far this season and is good enough for a midtable/lower midtable outfit. Deuce
Is he even likeable? Seems an angry dirty bastard sometimes. Yeah but he's our angry, dirty bastard.
Figures 1-0 Football
He was very pap at the start of last season IIRC and seemed to grow into the season the more he played.

Figures 1-0 Football
Sorry, didn't realise a word I have used 5 times in the past 12 months on here was totally sickening. How utterly childish.

joeyt
I don't think Ritchie was "very pap" () at any stage last season. His form dipped around Christmas time but his start and end of season form was good
Lush Vlad
TCD uses that term all the time and I think it grates on people. Understandably so

His form dipped around Christmas time but his start and end of season form was good Maybe the Christmas form is what I was wrongly thinking of, having looked back it does look like he had a decent start. Just recalled him going through a poor patch where he was playing similarly to how he has in the last two weeks. Probably missing Yedlin, who I think he works very well with. Figures 1-0 Football
TCD uses that term all the time and I think it grates on people. Understandably so Obviously when I used the term as little as 3 months ago and KI managed to respond to the post without being a child and overreacting, it wasn't such a problem. Back to discussing Ritchie then.

Mole_Toonfan
He was very pap at the start of last season IIRC and seemed to grow into the season the more he played. That's the championship though, i genuinely feel like his lack of pace will prove to be a problem in the PL. At least on the wing anyway.
Stottie
I reckon the Championship flattered him, but recognize that his performances came without any threat coming from the opposite wing and some pretty pish play at #10. So I'd like to think with better players around him, he should fit in back up in the Premiership again. There is a functional mid-table wide player in there, of the energy and determination over silky skills variety.
DJ_NUFC
How about playing him like Nolan in our last promotion season? We know his legs are shot, but so were Nolan's. Ritchie seems to have the brain of being in the right place at the right time, and has a shot on him. I think he's too slow to be on the wing now. tmonkey
Wasn't a fan of him last season. Thought the goals papered over what were workmanlike performances devoid of any real creative quality on the ball. He generally played very simply, took no risks alot of the time in build up play, and relied heavily on Yedlin making an impact going forwards. Ergo, I had him down as being was part of the problem of there being a lack of creativity in this team, especially when Shelvey was out. The one saving grace was that he could strike a ball relatively well sometimes, although it felt like he wasn't consistent at applying the good technique he does have. Seemed to slice/scuff/not cleanly hit the ball alot of the time, and felt like it was a mental issue (e.g. panicking, lack of composure, etc). With respect to this season, I'll wait to see if he produces or ups his consistency before judging, as he's earnt some leeway for now. Plus not sure we have anyone else worth bothering with in the first team ahead of him.
SEMTEX
He doesn't take risks because he's not fast enough/good enough to take people on. He's technically solid so is still a worthwhile weapon, but the fact he's a nailed on starter for us is far from ideal.
AyeDubbleYoo
Hard not to be a fan of him last season like, we wouldn't have gone up without the guy.
