Does anybody know the record of earliest promotion? Honestly think we will be promoted at the end of March at the latest.

In their record points total (106 point) year of 2005-06, Reading were promoted on March 25 according to the wiki for that season. It mightn't be the record, but you'd imagine that it wouldn't be far off. In their case, it was twenty points ahead of third with six games to play. It's only so late because of the ol' mathematical certainty. They were obviously up much earlier than that. They were 20 points ahead of third on Boxing Day, with fourth also twenty behind but with a game in hand

The table for March 25 that season can be seen here. Play around with the date to see how they pulled away. After 17 games like us now, they weren't even top.

Pretty sure we've got decent fixtures coming up now too.

Blackburn (H) - 22nd

Nottingham Forest (A) - 18th

Birmingham (H) - 5th

Wigan (A) - 23rd

Burton (A) - 20th

Sheffield Wednesday (H) - 9th

Nottingham Forest (H) - 18th

Blackburn (A) - 22nd

Brentford (A) - 14th

Rotherham (H) - 24th

Yeah, four of the next five are in the bottom 6 or 7

Cant see us losing any of them, maybe a few draws in there but saying that we've only drawn once this season. not beyond realms we win 18 in a row after them 10 games and are sitting on 70 points from 27 games played

whats been needed points wise to get top 2 last few seasons?

Over the last 5 seasons the following totals would have been enough to get promoted automatically:

89, 87, 86, 78, 87

Gap will soon be in double figures to the playoff places, all going to plan. Only stumbling block on horizon is Shelvey ban

Im still a cautious 7 but starting to consider upgrading to an eight with Norwich falling away. It won't get to a 9 or 10 till Marchish when wed have to spectacularly implode to fail if things keep going as they are

If Shelvey has to be banned it's probably better if he gets banned now because we've got a nice cushion rather than straight after the Wolves game before we'd started our winning run.

Obviously him missing the Hull game would be a bit of a bummer. He might do that anyway if he doesn't get found guilty but picks up a yellow next weekend

I'd rather we had him for Hull at least. There are 9 matches plus cup ties between that and our next big game against Brighton on the 28th of Jan

It sounds ridiculous but then you realise we've just won 8 in a row and it's totally possible. I reckon we'll probably have about 63 by that point.
