Jayson
Rafa's grind out 1-0 mentality will absolutely never work for NUFC. He needs to change. ASAP. It could work, just not with the payers we have. Fairly sure we'd not lost a point from a winning position till today, all the players are drilled to defend well. Obviously it gets difficult if you put yourself under about 4 attacks in a row, the defence do need A rest. Mitrovic has done my head in there, not fussed what others say. All he needed to do was play it simple.
nufcjb
Diame should be dropped. End of. Did nothing against Wolves. Get Mitro and Gayle or Ayoze back. Should have easily won that. Even tempted to play Murphy. He would have put that Diame chance away.
Thomson Mouse
Rafa caused that with the subs. Hayden clearly uncomfortable playing rightback and there is no point bringing Mitro on when the players you need to feed off him have dropped 20 yards deeper. Would have taken the point before the game though, key thing was to not lose two league games in a row Yep, can't understand why Tiote is even in the team. He was completely the wrong player to bring on as we were going to get pushed further back
olliemort
Not just saying it because of that goal but everyone on here can see it...how the he'll sels is playing ahead of darlow right now is beyond me. The Norwich game is even bigger now Sent from my HTC One M8s using Tapatalk

HaydnNUFC
Really disappointing due to the way the game played out but a point away from home is always a decent result iyam, especially against a side that's expected to be up there with us at the end of the season. Onto Norwich on Wednesday night.

Bringing on Tiote was more the issue. Lost all legs in the middle.
Jayson
The Yedlin injury seemed to destroy our midfield in regards to Hayden moving, that obviously had a big affect. Obviously we'd get the injury in the exact position we have a player out already. Bit of a joke.
Seymour
Rafa's grind out 1-0 mentality will absolutely never work for NUFC. He needs to change. ASAP. Gayle missed a one-on-one and Diame scuffed a sitter! That's why we didn't win. Those misses were beyond ridiculous, just not good enough. We needed 3 points today

Gayle missed a one-on-one and Diame scuffed a sitter! That's why we didn't win. Diame also missed that strange situation where Ritchie's shot was blocked, fell to Yedlin who passed it to him right at the penalty spot and he skied....expectation should be fore an attackerto put that on frame. Not sitter status but a golden chance.

nufcjb
Lose against Norwich and we'll be 7 behind them at this early stage. We lost to them last season. Not under McClaren......but under Rafa.

mighty__mag
Probably get members crying here, but sick of this defiance from Rafa sticking with this one up top bullshit. It's not working that well, And it's hardly necessary in this league to play with one up top, when on paper or spend wise have one of the strongest back four's in the league. Gayle needs Mitrovic next to him so he can make dummy runs pick up scraps and give opposing back 4's something to think about with both strikers in the box,Diame isn't offering anything as a number 10. Also if your playing one up top, why keep starting games with the smallest figure? We have Mitrovic & Murphy both over 6ft, but choose the 5"8 Gayle? We just don't appear adventurous in this league, I thought end of last season we would be really aggressive going forward in this league, bully sides, but it doesn't appear so. Can't really pick on players, because I'm starting to think it's how we are setting up.
Mattoon
Sels inability to deal with aerial threats was always going to cost us at some point, he's just not progressing in that area and you've got to start question him getting in the team ahead of Darlow now. Clearly Diame and Gayle does not work, it's been our worst front line so far this season and we paid the price today with poor finishes from them both. Mitrovic and Perez have to play midweek, they deserve the chance after another woeful display. We only have ourselves to blame after today, Villa were there for the taking, so poor in the first half and with the chances we created when we were on top we should have been comfortable for the win at half time. On the balance of play a draw is probably a fair result, it's just a kick in the teeth when the first half it looked like there was only one team in it. We can't dwell on it too much, we need to get back at it and get a win midweek against Norwich, last week most of us would have taken 4 points from the 2 games, given other results this is now imperative to keep in distance of the top of the league. The next few months see us having some easy games on paper and we need to make a charge to the top of the table. It's not the end of the world but it's another setback in what's proving to be a more difficult campaign than most of us anticipated.
BlackandWhite
Awful, awful result. Should be beating bottom end of the table sides, not drawing with them! Threw it away, it's all our own fault. Drop Diame and play mitro and gayle up front next, please.

The fact that Lazaar wasnt put on speaks volumes You want to put a left back that struggled on his debut in a new league on in an unfamiliar position in a game where we've ended up severely on the back foot? Doesn't say much at all to me.
louistoon
Should've smashed them out of sight. Still think Diame doesn't do much, Gayle's not a lone striker and Sels is poor, but in Rafa we trust. Amen

Mole_Toonfan
Rafa's grind out 1-0 mentality will absolutely never work for NUFC. He needs to change. ASAP. Gayle missed a one-on-one and Diame scuffed a sitter! That's why we didn't win. While that's true, the reason we didn't create more chances like that was because of the sit deep and soak up pressure attitude. We'll drop more points than we'll keep with this mentality. We deserved everything we got because of the mentality, there's absolutely no reason considering how shit they were in the first half to sit deep and give them the confidence to get back into the game and invite pressure on us. Scoot
Knew they were gonna equalise after we missed the chances that we did. It was totally on the cards. We bossed the first half but let Villa come into it in the second. We have to win now on Wednesday against Norwich. Lose to them and we have some massive catching up to do. Toondave
One up top or not our finishing is shocking. Just don't feel confident seeing any of our players through 1 on 1, finishing needs addressing.
