When teams sit back with an organised back line, we need the ability to hit them quickly and increase the pressure. The fact we have done that today is a great sign.

slightly irrelevant if we get promoted as we won't be half as feared in the prem, but good signs for the rest of this season.

I don't care how we play or the score as long as we win, the championship is hopefully a temporary stop and we won't come across such negative tactics when playing at home when prompted so I expect the games to play out differently hopefully with a few improvements players wise as well.

Thank fuck for that.

Been impressed with Murphy's involvement. Yedlin's not been awful as such but just doesn't fill me with as much confidence as Anita. Just hasn't looked that impressive. Everything else just looks as normal; look more likely to score but equally ready to let it all be for nothing with one mistake. Fair do's to Darlow for getting back to save his own skin but he was very lucky.

Need to just keep giving the ball to each other with their back to goal, turn and shoot. I swear the closest chances were off the back of that each time. Must send their defenders' heads in a spin.

Actually think Yedlin has been one of our better players, that block for the Darlow fuck up stopped us going a goal down.

Very relieved we're going into the second half one up, cos you could envisage us getting frustrated and losing our (already pretty fragile) control on that altogether. I don't know why we're all over the place at the back; I'm nervous whenever they come forward.

On balance we definitely deserve to be in front because we've created chances and they've invited that turn-and-shoot more than once now. Glad Murphy buried it.

Do like Murphy, he seems a good target man. Was confident he'd score today and he has done.

Yedlin our best player, hopefully the lad marking Shelvey will tire and we'll go on and win comfortably.

Haven't noticed Yedlin do much at all, although I am watching on a pretty poor stream

Smallwood should have been off, no doubt.

I was starting to space out towards the end though, am I imagining it or did the referee blow the whistle for the previous challenge before Smallwood was even going in?

He had aye.

Every time we aren't in the lead after half an hour this place pisses its pants. We deserve to be in the lead after that half and we are due to a well taken goal - happy with that. I expect us to win 3-0 now.

St James Park equally as bad a this place for moaning and groaning.

Without doubt. SJP has a large percentage of idiots though compared to what I thought about this forum.

Absolutely.  Came into the game more as an attacking option as the game progressed too.

And am sorry like Neesy; yes, I know all teams harp on about injustices and such but I swear to God, every single game I've watched this season we've had an extremely good shout for a penalty turned down. That today was every bit as much of a bollocks decision as the one against Fulham on day 1.

He's played well I think. He set up Murphy and if it wasn't for him they'd have scored when Darlow dropped his clanger.

Only just noticed, Shelvey's freekick in the build-up to the goal took an incredibly lucky glance off an opponent which chanced the trajectory, enabling it to land perfectly at the feet of Yedlin.  Small margins right there.

 Fair on the block. Just felt like he always looked a bit lost going forward though. I'm sure I'm moaning for moaning's sake.  :dontknow:
