joeyt
It's only Bradford but encouraging that we look pretty fit in those highlights judging by us pressing high up the pitch. Shelvey played some lush balls too

Pilko
Probably helps that Rafa had the balls out on the first day of pre-season, instead of this nonsense where they get them running for a week or two and occasionally play head tennis for 20 minutes at the end to warm down. AyeDubbleYoo
Just watching the Bradford match back, Shelvey looks fit as anything. Great run and skill from him to set up a disallowed goal for Gayle.
gazza ladra
Why was the goal disallowed? Watching the replay and nobody knows.
RobS
Did Gayle not handball it into the net?
AyeDubbleYoo
That's the most likely, but no replays or anything so not 100% sure.
toontownman
Ref signalled for handball on the highlights. Hard to tell at that speed and camera angle if it was. Quality build up though. Bradford defence made Shelvey look like Yedlin speed wise.
gazza ladra
Thanks. I wanted to believe it was all Shelvey.

Dave
Newcastle take on FSV Mainz 05 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, having won two and drawn one of their three warm-up matches so far. But before heading to Germany, Rafa Benítez's players trained on Friday morning with a short, sharp session. New boy Mikel Merino wasn't signed in time to to take part, but he has has travelled to the game with his new team-mates.
Greg
Players are coming back between games rather than staying out there as well.
xLiaaamx
I'm sure both games we're picked up by German TV but nothing else.
