Florian Lejeune (now playing for Rayo Vallecano)

Recommended Posts

It is quite usual for defenders new to the league to take some time with it, problem is most clubs can't afford to wait for players to get up to speed so they drop out the team and never come back. Rafa coached him excellently and his partnership with lascelles if it can be sustained and coached with rafa will be one of the best in the league in seasons to come, of course that presumes a lot.

I agree. Bringing him back for the Man U game was a masterstroke.

He's been brilliant since he got back in the team.

Yeah came on to say this and add that his performances have definitely gone a bit under the radar.

Would look to move Clark on as he really proved to me earlier this season he’ll just never be a Premier League quality player. His positional sense lets him down so often at this level.

Would keep the current CB partnership (assuming a bigger side don’t come in for Lascelles) and get someone else in as a backup/prospect given Mbemba seems to have been written off entirely now.

His passing is Shelvey-esque at times.

Aye, can't remember us having a centre back who could pass the ball as well as Lejeune like. A good attribute to have and well utilised today.

Colo was pretty class at times

Easily one of our best performers this season. He got some stick while Lascelles was out but people forget he had two fairly bad injuries so he was essentially thrown into the team when not match fit and into a league that was new to him and in full swing. It was always going to take some games to adjust.

He recovery of form bodes well for the future.

We do need some solid backup for him and Lascelles though. Clark looked poor every game he played this season.

Yeah, if there's one thing we aren't lacking any history of its ball playing center backs. Some people man

Last "generation" we had Colo who was immense on the ball so much that there were a lot of people calling for various managers to try him as a defensive midfielder. Before that Bramble was pretty decent, at least in terms of long passes and before that again, Albert wasn't much of a hoofer either.

Titus was an incredible passer of the ball tbf, I used to enjoy his passes from LCB out to Solano on the wing.

Bramble's the first player that came to mind in terms of those laser-guided raking passes.

Completely forgot about his passing ability. Although I don't accept Colo, Lejeune just has that technique to sniper one out of the back, Colo was more about driving forward with the ball.
