Anderson
Further confirmation that Chelsea are going for the fuck it, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it approach to FFP and hope to tie them up with their lawyers many advocated us going for. Interesting to see how it’ll play out, can only hope it blows up in their face. All the more funny when they’re getting absolutely no value for money and I can’t say they’ve noticeably upgraded their squad to a level required to compete for titles or even guarantee top 4. 1892er
What's that they've spent in 3 transfer windows? Got to be over £700m?
Beth
Chelsea are taking the piss now like. I know they've sold a few as well but their net spend must still be something like £500m over the last couple of years.
RobsonsWonderland
The daft thing is if they didn't bid ridiculous fees for players last window then we wouldn't be here now... And they could have bought even more players at half the price lol
Conjo
Wonder what kind of sell on clause Brighton have gotten included. Can't expect to get a whole lot more if it's a percentage of the profit of his next sale Chelsea are bonkers, but they are signing great players. If Pochettino manages to galvanize them into a unit they'll be around the top positions at the end of the season. No European competition to get distracted by either. Stottie
The whole thing is a joke. Breaking the transfer record on a promising DM! Not a Shearer or a Rooney. If Poch whips Chelsea into shape, they're going to need door openers because half the league will set up in a low block against them. Chelsea with Caicedo will still lack goals. They're spending a fuckton but still look several players short. NUFC meanwhile mull over whether we need cover at RCB. A level one or two problem on a scale of one to ten. Liverpool were prepared to pay the same fee, so the joke is on them too. In their defence, they are at least a high scoring team that needs to tighten it up at the back. A DM is their pressing need. They've revealed how deep their pockets are and how high the ceiling is, so this has pulled their pants down without filling that hole in their midfield. Ben
Probably along with Pepe to Arsenal one of the stupidest transfers ever.
Hot Since 1882
https://www.90min.com/posts/transfers-worst-signings-football-history-hazard-coutinho-dembele Wouldn't have Diego Costa or Kepa in this list but frightening amount of Chelsea transfers mentioned. Hope to god we don't make a Rodwell-City or Drinkwater-Chelsea transfer!
Ben
Evan Ferguson to Spurs would be a clever use of the Kane cash, not sure how much he would go for though.

I'd rather have Big Joe over Caicedo, he's clearly highly rated but I've not seen that much from him to warrant half that price.

Most likely have to sell Gallagher and Chalobah during this season. And they may still end up breaking the UEFA rules, but not EPL rules. And if, and when, they don't qualify for UCL this season, they are in trouble.
54
£821m in three transfer windows Chelsea spent the same amount that the Saudis bought us on three players, Caicedo, Fernandez and Fofana Edited August 14, 2023 by

We spend within our means.

Anyone who says any different because of our transfer spend is hopefully just unaware of the situation, otherwise they are ignorant, stupid or both. Once again, Swiss Ramble did a great analysis on it, but it might be easier just to bury your head and the sand. EDIT: Worth noting this was a year ago, and things are worse now. The debt is near £1b now, which is why they have to sell. Edited August 14, 2023 by Froggy
