Only seen a limited amount of him, so happy to be corrected, but this seems like a massive amount for what he’s shown so far, no?

I meant more the frees and low millions players further in the thread that they sold for big money.

Oh yeah I'm in full agreement. It's just that we don't even need to be wildly competent at it. Just buy anyone under 23 in Argentina that has scored a few goals. Job done. Thank fuck for Brexit.

Not sold on that one.

Rutter was excellent last season for Leeds and was in the team of the season I believe, he is better than Joao Pedro and will likely fill the attacking midfield role if they stick with the double pivot in midfield.

He can play up front but it would be like us playing Bellamy up front as the lone striker, who would do a lot more in creating opportunities for the midfield than being a goal threat himself.

Yeah, don't really like him having seen a fair bit of Leeds last season.

Can see he's talented, but he's a bit flimsy, and his decision making can be off sometimes.

An opinion from watching both of them play, there are a lot of similarities in their play but Rutter combines his with an unbelievable work rate.

When I caught some of Leeds games last season he gave me Joelinton vibes. As in he didn’t look like a striker at all, or someone you want regularly in front of goal, but when he was popping up in more central midfield areas and progressing the ball, looked a real talent.

Raw and needs some more development, with £40m an excessive outlay, but one I can see paying off. Perfectly suited physicality wise for the English game.

They'll be praying at least one hits the mark so they can sell for £70-80m in a couple of years time and do it all again.

I fancy Mitoma or Ferguson will get flogged so Tony Bloom can continue to be the Balance Sheet Champion.

Ties in with what I saw from him.

Definitely remember him losing the ball a lot, typically from not being strong enough on the ball or just careless poor decisions.

Can look good on the occasions he gets it right though.

But yeah, not a fan. And absolutely not for £40 million.

Are Brighton pushing their luck this season ? Granted they have had massive success buying and selling players, but they are paying fortunes for players now and asking a 14 year old manager to deal with the influx, I think it could go tits up

Nah, they'll be comfortably top half again and still look good I think.

They’re making the moves at right time. If they drop off because players need settling / manager is shit, their floor is still safety, and they can get moving on.

Worse thing to do is throw money at the squad when a downward spiral has already started and you are not far above relegation.

He'll need to have a Ross Barkley level season otherwise he's done at the top level.

Wish we had gone in for Summerville, especially at that price. I’ve no doubt he’d be worth triple the fee in the not so distant future.
