Other clubs' transfers

They have massively cut their wage structure under the new ownership, it's why they cut adrift the likes of Mount because of his demands. Most of their signings have been young players from other markets.

But total wage bill will be high due to the sheer number of players they have on the books.

Mad how Sterling is still only 29. Classic case of a player playing since they were 17, hitting 500+ games well before they are 30 and basically being cooked.

I feel similar may happen with Bellingham. He's only 21 but he's played 219 games already. Players bodies can only take so much regardless of age sometimes. Not always mind.

That’s what makes Milner even more impressive

How will that work? Liverpool cannot sign him this window and loan him out to Bournemouth straightaway. So Valencia loan him to Bournemouth and Liverpool have obligation to buy after that loan?

I think they can unless he actually plays for Valencia and Liverpool this season, meaning he can't play for a 3rd club in Bournemouth.

I for am absolutely stunned that Bailey is a clueless wanker

The article mentions that clause and basically says Liverpool are going to pretend to not be loaning him:

“Valencia will bank £34 million. Liverpool are due to pay £30 million, with that final £4 million a loan fee stumped up via Bournemouth.”

if true surely that’s a blatant and transparent attempt to subvert the rule which should be knocked on the head.

If Bellingham keeps playing at his current rate he’ll be on 1000 odd games before he’s thirty.

I don’t get it. If Bournemouth are paying the loan fee to Liverpool then that makes it no different to any other loan. If they’re paying it to Valencia then they’re paying a loan fee to a club that won’t own him.

I know we likely couldn’t compete with Arsenal given what they could offer but Merino for €30m seems like such a bargain in today’s market. Where are you getting a player like that for that price?

Presumably they would like to buy him for £34M then immediately loan him to Bournemouth for a year for £4M. The rules say you can’t do that. So they reckon that by having Bournemouth loan him from Valencia for a year then agreeing to buy him for £30M at that time they “get round” the rules. Plus presumably also distorting PSR by shunting that 30M outlay back a year.
