It’s an insane amount of wages, on players who are a mixture of hot/cold and aging.

It’s the type of deals people thought we would do, and I’m glad we haven’t done. Good for 2 months, then left with him for many more months afterwards.

We'll soon see how it all plays out.

Their style of play also utilises speed and ball carrying effectively in their transitions. They are going to have a lot of that available, with bodies to come on when others are floundering.

Emery also appears to have the temperament to deal with 'characters' let's call them.

Thought he handled Duran well. Even at Arsenal he also managed Aubameyang well, who Arteta was quick to jettison. Danjuma at Villarreal, who has done nothing outside of his really good stint with Emery. Tielemans looked heavy and slow when he first joined and was hardly used but has turned it around.

From a competitive standpoint that is the concern. I think Emery is quite comfortable working with these types, and it's exactly why they are going for them.

Apparently Emery was the one pushing for Rashford, if a manager of his pedigree reckons he can get something out of Rashford I'd tend to believe it.

I think Howe would've got him firing too to be honest.

Let's be honest, it could go either way and if he can somehow score the goals which get them in the CL it's well worth it for them.

I don't they will exercise the option so they only need the budget for this year to afford it and with Saudi giving them a massive gift that's no issue either.

Yeah, every manager is different. Some are better than others at dealing with these sorts of players.

Like @SUPERTOON said, he's going to have that many options, he'll be able to alternate them based on who's performing well at the time.

Same as Barkley, who was lauded in same way for an amazing deal.

Odd glimpse and impact, largely irrelevant, with high wages for seasons to come. Only fall back this time for Villa in short term, Asensio is a short loan.

As has been said, it could go 1 of 2 ways, Emery either gets a tune out of all 3 and Villa become even stronger, or it's just fucked them from a PSR point of view.

Will probably be better for him playing for a manager that doesn't slate him in the media every week as well

Hope Rashford does well, but can't help feel he's had that mentality tip you see in players and can't recover from.

Guy has been at Man United since he was 9 years old.

He started off well, but as Man United became a mess post Fergie a lot of pressure was on his shoulders.

Just getting away from that will be a huge relief I imagine.

Barkley cost £5 million and was signed as a squad player. What were you expecting?

I'd much rather have him as a backup than some of our options there right now.

Wouldn't touch Rashford with a bargepoll. He's 27 and looks like he's just given up on the sport, this is essentially his last chance and signing one more big contract. I've got a feeling he'll bust a gut for 3 months, trigger the deal, sign the contract and go back to his lazy ways of the last 2 years. I don't think he gives the first fuck other than sitting on his mega-wage until he officially retires aged 33

I’ve always had a soft spot for Rashford. If they get him back to playing in a position he’s familiar with and he’s approaching it as a point to prove under Emery I reckon it’ll take off for him.

If he gets back to what he can do £40m is cheap - wages maybe not so. If it doesn’t work he goes back to Man U. It’s a good risk/reward for me.

Danger is he does a Coutinho, performs well on loan and then you buy him on big wages. Then drops off and you’re starting to do an Everton.

Who? Longstaff maybe but there’s not another midfielder in our squad I’d rather have Barkley than

Next week I think, conveniently after the window closes.

Following which the Red Shirt weasels will convene their collection of cucks and sycophants to find some new and potentially illegal way of stopping owners from advancing their club’s progress.
