Hopefully a reminder to some how difficult this window will be regardless of funds and UCL.

It's weird. I do want us to be able to compete for these types of players but when our wage structure would be blown to smithereens instantly, what can we do? It's wrong a club that's been basically a failure and a basket case for 15 years, and in that much debt, can still casually pay those sort of wages. In a short career, you can hardly blame players for taking the money, even if it might come at the cost of sporting achievement. Need to scout out these players before they become established in the PL, much easier said than done.

Also… Man Utd not in that much of a mess.

Something about Ben Jacobs jars me. How the fuck has somebody so utterly unreliable got 400k followers?

He’s a cunt who sticks his ore into every bit of gossip so has became a name because of it.

Hmmmmm. They're 1 billion pounds in debt, the stadium is falling to bits, they've not won the league, or even looked like doing it, in 12 years (a long time for them), only really been competitive in domestic cups, they pay stupid wages on average players which will catch up to even them eventually, an inflexible coach that hardly anyone believes in, who can't seem to even coach what he has and must overhaul everything as usual, hated owners, embittered staff treated like shit, ex-players rounding on them every 2 minutes. From the outside looking in, feels like a bit of a mess to me.

Our stadium is falling to bits and only two thirds the size of it. Their next one will be twice the size. We’ve not looked like winning the league for 20+ years. Wages for average players just an added attraction rather than a negative from a players perspective. Not sure how invested majority of players are in coaches. Our owners are hated in a different way worldwide. As much as I don’t like anyone losing their jobs it does sound like a cull was needed when you’ve body language experts on £175kpy! Yet they still nearly won a European trophy after winning a domestic cup in each of their last two seasons.

I do hear your points and obviously they are nowhere where they were. However let’s not forget where we were less than 4 years ago. Will take a while before perceptions change.

All fair points but I wasn't really comparing us to them, despite our progress, we're still not in their ballpark from a revenue or global perspective. No, I was commenting on how they are now (and have been for 12+ years) as compared to 93-2013. Huge difference between 20 years of unrelenting success and the odd cup win, and it will take years to repair and culture changes they don't seem keen to explore.

Every summer, they refuse to learn from the same relentless mistakes. They just go out and overhaul the squad yet again and spend 150m+ on the latest flavor of the minute players (and coaches) like the prior season never happened. Already, a talented but temperamental 100m player through the door. No change to the same over-spending or scouting model and culture that hasn't really worked in years. No learning lessons, didn't work last year at all? No problem! 1BN of debt? No sweat! We'll just spend our way out of it again.

It's all relative I suppose, some in their fanbase would doubtless argue that the odd cup is fine but relative to expenditure, their league campaigns have been utterly pathetic and I can only see that continuing. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while, one day if they keep spending enough, it might even "work".

Fernandes staying or going is lose lose for them. If he stays, they've missed out on a massive (£80M+) chunk of money that they desperately need but if he goes they lose their best player of the last five years and will not be able to replace what he produces for them even with the cash they get for him.

Now let's hope they struggle to sell their existing players on big wages.

Any sensible club would now wait until they become desperate to sell the likes of rashford

Any sensible club wouldn't be in the market for the likes of Rashford.
