Positives: - Merino class on and off the ball - Joselu general play positive - CB's looked good - Diame looked a footballer, a good one at that Negatives: - Manquillo is pish and Gamez doesn't look much better (but he does look better). Manquillo always lets his man slip. - Hayden's first touch, in fact just Hayden on the ball. Some of the quick passing going forwards is lovely to watch, can tell they're confident on the ball really. 54 Posted September 10, 2017 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Great performance that, the perfect away performance, limited them to only one or two chances, countered well, and got the goal. Merino is going to be massive for us. Clark and Lacselles at the back dealt with everything that was asked of them. Gamez look composed and defensively very good. Joselu is great for our overall play, and Ritchie is just a battler. Hayden never really got into the game when in possession, and Atsu and Murphy never really did much. Cracking performance. Had their keeper not have made that world class save in the first half it would have been a more comfortable win. Clark 7 - lost his man when Mawson should've scored but decent aside. Lascelles 8 - top work at both ends. Gamez 6 - not tested that much. Murphy 5 - struggled to get into it. Hayden 6 - put himself about before tiring. Merino 8 - class above and a bit of a cunt which is also endearing. Ritchie 7 - grafted all day and some quality on the ball. toontownman Posted September 10, 2017 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Looked a bit toothless and first touch was abysmal to start but definitely grew into the game. While we didn't quite look threatening on the break we crafted a few chances. Second half was a different proposition. Looked like we were going for the kill as the game was definitely there for the taking. Really impressed overall. We are lacking, no doubt in quality in attack but on the defensive side we looked decent and the attack worked hard. Ritchie and joselu were relentless. Clark and lascelles were impressive Merino is a fucking stud. Get well soon rafa. Glad the half time Skype session worked but while i know you are working from home please wear trousers next time.
