Rafa Benítez (now unemployed)

What a load of shit. He's not doing well enough right now with the sub standard tools he's been given. He's got to take his slice of the blame for where we are now, doesn't mean I want him out, far from it. But he has to improve, like everyone else associated with this rotten football club right now.

I agree with Varadi.

On top of the lack of quality in the squad, I do believe that the takeover talk is having a negative influence on everyone at the club. I don't think it's a coincidence that prior to the sale announcement, Rafa was getting results with this same squad.

It's not a level playing field on which Rafa can be judged on so until it is, we have to trust him 100% and give all the support that we can.

In Rafa I trust.

You also have to bear in mind we lost our only specialist left-back, our most effective winger, our captain and most accomplished CB, and arguably our best CM for 4-5 games.

With such a thin squad we were always going to feel the impact of those injuries.

The injuries have been massively underestimated IMO, they’ve been absolutely key.

If Lascelles and Merino had played through we’d probably had 4-6 more points.

Even a good Championship squad would get more than 1pt from these last 7. And you see Huddersfield, West Ham, Palace etc claim some scalps this season, whereas when we take a lead we can't even park the bus and hold on for 20 minutes.

We collapse against the big teams and lost 1-0 to the poor sides.

I do think Lascelles being out has played a huge part in that. Would we have looked so tragic at the back against Watford if he was playing? Against Leicester? Against Man Utd and Chelsea? (we probably would've done against those 2 teams, they're miles ahead of us) Would we have conceded that late header against Bournemouth if Lascelles was on the pitch? The answer is probably not, we'd probably be 2-4 points better off.

Who would've foreseen him being so important prior to the season starting.

Point being, they can both raise their game and I'm not sure we can.

OK. You may want to put it in the thread title mind. Rafael Benitez, beyond criticism.

For me he kind of is to be honest. Partly because any criticism directed at him is diverted from where it truly belongs, but also because he's by a considerable margin the best manager we'll ever get under this regime.

If we get taken over, he spends 50 million+ on new players and still isn't getting results then I might have a few words to say, but until then for me he's bulletproof.

He’s not like no person is he is making some poor decisions and should be open to question about it. Everyone has sympathy with the restrictions the fat c*** has put to him but he certainly still isn’t beyond criticism when deserved. The team selection and tactics used in the last couple of months certainly deserves questions being asked. I keep saying he is not a god. Just don’t understand why there are many supporters seem disgusted when a managers decisions are being questioned when a total of 6 points out of 33 has been accumulated over the last 11 games surely any manager would be under the same scrutiny at any club given the same circumstances.

That's not true though. I've not heard one media pundit question his credentials. Most seem to think the squad is championship standard and he needs to be given the money to strengthen to avoid relegation.

Who the hell is talking about credentials i didn't even mention the media who in the main have not got a clue about Newcastle as a club or team. It's about the job he is currently doing and he is making mistakes with tactics and team selection - I would question anyone who can't see that.

Yeah, I don't necessarily think this is the right job for him at the moment. He has trophies won off the back of his methods/recruitment and he hasn't been given the backing by Ashley to support that. From his perspective why should he change his winning formula to accommodate an oaf? He doesn't want Mitro or Mbemba for his reasons so won't play them, even though if he adapted they may be better than the alternatives.

Of course, if the takeover goes through and he is given adequate resources then we, and he, will reap the benefits.

Or he's just sh**e and we should get rid
