Various: Mike Ashley in talks with Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan

Best thing is Ryder saying the club sources said it’s true, obviously lying out his front teeth and he knows nowt as per

I’d imagine he’s dropped a massive clanger and asked his source if the Sky story is true, to which they have said yes (meaning a bid made) and he’s incorrectly presumed that the source was verifying the full story, including the price.

Probably not even got a source to ask, he’s just on the twitter bandwagon and thought he better post summit from the under 23 game so people think he’s in the loop. Backfired this time though, jokers

We live in a time where it’s more important to be first with news than be accurate.

There are infinite permutations here.

That the info has leaked probably indicates that PCP or their investors are playing hard ball. Say Ashley wants 400m, but would probably take 350.. by Staveley bidding 300, he now runs the risk of a fucking riot if he doesn’t accept.. so instead of putting up with a revolt for the sake of more profit, he might just take around 315 now.

And her commission on this might depend on any amount saved.

I’d prefer to take a step back and wait for more solid news.. as fucking hard as that is tonight

It’s quite obvious at this stage that a lot of the media are just totally guessing now, or being fed s*** info.

There’s about 5 journalists all claiming different things with different ‘sources’.

Yep.

Here's a Reuters article. They're decent aren't they? Anyway, here:

https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-soccer-newcastle-united-offer/staveleys-pcp-makes-300-million-pound-bid-for-newcastle-united-source-idUKKBN1DK2H9

PCP Capital Partners has submitted a bid of around 300 million pounds to take over Premier League club Newcastle United, a source with knowledge of the bid told Reuters.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley put the club up for sale last month and PCP, the investment firm run by British businesswoman Amanda Staveley, was widely expected to be the main bidder for the North East team.

The source said PCP has offered different payment structures, meaning that the value of the bid was not fixed. Newcastle did not respond to a request for comment.

One offer is to pay the full amount up front and another proposes a smaller amount upfront with the rest tied to performance.

PCP Capital, which acts for investors in the Middle East and China, is best known for acting as an intermediary between Barclays and a group of Abu Dhabi investors during the 2008 financial crisis, helping the British bank avoid a government bailout.

Newcastle have been relegated twice since Ashley took charge in 2007. The club won promotion back to the Premier League last season and are currently 11th in the table.

Ashley has faced criticism for not investing more in players, and his announcement in October that the club was up for sale was welcomed by fans.

The statement, issued on Oct. 16, from Ashley’s St. James’ Holdings Limited, said they would be willing to allow a potential purchaser to defer “substantial” payments in order to allow the new owner the flexibility to “make meaningful investment in the club, including in its playing squad”.

In this case I don't think anyone is guessing. I think they all have different sources and depending on which side the info is coming from and how close the source is to the proceedings they're getting different versions. All that we should care about at this stage is a bid has been made, it may have been made as early as last week, and there are no reports it's been outright rejected. This is all very positive.
