Various: Mike Ashley in talks with Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan

Recommended Posts

Out of all the groups we've seen over the last few years, i'd probably be most excited with them running things, not that I think it will happen, because wee Mike Ashley.

The similarities between the first 12 months of Ashley and the first 12 months of Donald are uncanny. Lots of smoke and mirrors but them doing the odds bits to make us buy into it.

Ownership Mike Ashley owns the club via his company MASH Holdings Limited.

Gate and matchday £24m; TV and broadcasting, £126m; commercial and other income, £28m

Net debt £144m owed to Ashley.

Interest payable £0.1m

Highest-paid director £300,000 paid to Lee Charnley.

State they’re in Ashley pushed the finances into the red to win promotion; the steadiness since is seen as stinginess by many supporters, and the manager Rafael Benítez. Repaid £33m of his own loans after the financial year end. Has committed to Sports Direct starting to pay this year for the ubiquitous advertising at St James’ Park.

Staggering how the matchday income and commercial income is lower (and has always been lower in every year of MAs ownership) than the last year of Freddie Sheps ownership - and yet we are still ranked 8th in terms of turnover

Both commercial and revenue SHOULD have at least been doubled by now (compared to FS last season) or even increased by 150% - the lack of growth is utterly disgraceful

Had both Matchday and Commerical revenue increased we'd be comfortably a top 7 club with even the chance of yo-yoing up and down within the top 7

20mil for gayle come off it,we would snap a hand off for half that

He's as close as you can get to a guarantee of 20+ goals in the championship. Prolific strikers increase your chances of promotion dramatically. The value of promotion is in excess of £100m.

If you're a nearly team, signing Gayle might near enough guarantee you top 2 and automatic. In which case, it'd be a bargain, even at £20m imho.

With the added ridiculousness that it's likely a Championship club buy him at that price, where we've only spent anything like that once in Ashley's reign on Almiron.

No club will take us on that £20m bargain I would wager.

Apparently head guy of that Mexican group has confirmed they want Newcastle United.

Said they wanted us during the season but had to wait due to the relegation risks.

All this is according to some Mexican translation of qoutes coming from their recent press conference on Twitter so not sure how legit  :undecided:

Their definitely legit at buying football clubs though
