No real issue with this if it was to sit at number 2, but I can't see Howe letting go of Pope and I can't see us having three keepers that will each want to be starting sat on the bench so think a new signing wouldn't happen in that scenario, we are desperate for a top class No1 keeper.

Could the 1 year extension be a way for us to get a fee from a Saudi club rather than him leaving on a free?

Just thinking wouldn't he rather a 2 year plus contract in Saudi on more money, rather than 1 more year with us (footballing reasons aside 😂

This is my thought.

Tbf - he's performed better than Pope this season. Pope just hasn't looked the same player. Would presume it means Pope will be sold.

If Dubravka is in goal next season then God help us.

Contract extensions under current administration >>>>>> contract extensions during Ashley era.

Its been hampered/hamstrung by PSR, but I think the process is working and we should trust it.

Let's put this into perspective - Pope for me hasn't looked great this season and with Dubs in goal we have gone on our best run in years.  We need to get CL football this season, to keep our best players, to be able to attract better players in the Summer and to increase our revenue. It's key to our development.  And personally I feel keeping Dubs gives us a better chance at qualifying than without him.  And if the price to keep him was giving him a new contract then I'm fine with that.

The decision to start Pope was 100% the right one today IMO.

Forest unlikely to press so much where Dubravka's ability on the ball would be needed, and Pope would always be much better at sweeping up Forest's fast breaks. Think previously how badly Dubs got caught out with that against this very team.

In the end we never really got exposed in that way first half anyway, and in the second half we 'played' (using the term loosely) a game with Forest dominating the ball which was never really expected at any point.

New keeper next season, but Dubravka needs to be playing now, Pope looked all over the shop

Wrong.  So wrong.  You couldn't be anymore wrong.

I feel like we've just created this narrative where Dubravka is better than he actually is because he was in the team when we got some wins.

Neither is the long-term solution but Pope is the better keeper.

Right.  So right.  You couldn't be anymore right.
