The College Dropout
Schar has been poor for some time hasn’t he ?
Shays Given Tim Flowers
Yeah, very inconsistent with his passing, often gifting the ball in dangerous areas. His positioning has been really slack and his industry in recovery is starting to leave a lot to be desired.
Cf
You can see why we were looking to buy a CB in the summer. Once again PSR ladies and gentlemen. Even if money was available anything we spent limits what we could do in future windows so presumably the call in the end was we thought we could get another year out of the defence we had. I think it's pretty clear that Trippier and Schar are past their peak and well into the decline phase. Trippier I still think is one of the most impactful signings in the clubs history. And Schar has low key been one of the leagues best defenders. Age catches up with everyone. The club clearly identified it was an area we needed to address but the rules are really limiting our ability to do so.

We could have had Huijsen in the summer for 12 million mind, don’t think PSR is to blame for everything, recruitment needs refined and hopefully that’s what’s now happening. Benwell Lad Posted Thursday at 11:39 Share Posted Thursday at 11:39 Love Fab's ability on the ball and what he gives us, BUT those over confident, usually straight, passes he makes from the back which instantly turns the game against us in the final third are becoming a real concern. It's almost like you know it's going to happen then it does. Sometimes even the classiest defenders just have to minimise risk and put their foot through the ball. Smal Posted Sunday at 16:43 Share Posted Sunday at 16:43 the weirdest thing is his decline with the ball. You kind of expect him to drop off physically but he’s not been good with the ball this season really.
Kid Icarus Posted Sunday at 17:04 Share Posted Sunday at 17:04 Worst I've ever seen from him today. The amount of time he seemed to pass it directly to one of their forwards was insane. That laser-guided ball he used to have has gone now as well.

Newcastle Fan Posted Sunday at 17:09 Share Posted Sunday at 17:09 He's shattered and is not playing with any confidence, we need Botman back asap to take some load off him and Burn.
The Butcher Posted Sunday at 17:11 Share Posted Sunday at 17:11 The writing has been on the wall for quite some time, mind. Looked a yard slower all season and has struggled to get close to strikers. Not even sure if I'd extend his contract.

AyeDubbleYoo Posted Sunday at 17:13 Share Posted Sunday at 17:13 It’s the beginning of the end for him sadly, the Guehi pursuit showed that. Just a shame we’ve had to play the same 2 defenders in every game.

Funtime Frankie Posted Sunday at 18:31 Share Posted Sunday at 18:31 Father time remains undefeated. The only shock is how sudden and quickly the decline has been. He was one of my favourite players for the cross ball he played but only managed one all game and gave it away in short passes too much. I think he has a place as a back up but this for me is the priority position in summer.
Yorkie Posted Sunday at 18:35 Share Posted Sunday at 18:35 I hope he's removed from the team before he harms what ought to be a fantastic legacy. That said, no VAR and, yet again, he's done the thing he's most adored for at this club: scored a brilliant goal. A desperate shame that it got taken away from him and I'll never, ever believe it's right for the game. It's not bias either, I've made the point about dozens and dozens of perfectly good goals ruled-out by this manifestation of the need to make real football like FIFA/PES.
