You can see why we were looking to buy a CB in the summer.

Once again PSR ladies and gentlemen. Even if money was available anything we spent limits what we could do in future windows so presumably the call in the end was we thought we could get another year out of the defence we had.

I think it's pretty clear that Trippier and Schar are past their peak and well into the decline phase.

Trippier I still think is one of the most impactful signings in the clubs history.

And Schar has low key been one of the leagues best defenders.

Age catches up with everyone. The club clearly identified it was an area we needed to address but the rules are really limiting our ability to do so.

We could have had Huijsen in the summer for 12 million mind, don’t think PSR is to blame for everything, recruitment needs refined and hopefully that’s what’s now happening.

Love Fab's ability on the ball and what he gives us, BUT those over confident, usually straight, passes he makes from the back which instantly turns the game against us in the final third are becoming a real concern. It's almost like you know it's going to happen then it does.

Sometimes even the classiest defenders just have to minimise risk and put their foot through the ball.

hasnt hit a decent long pass in months.

and his backing off is starting to get worrying.

Father time remains undefeated. The only shock is how sudden and quickly the decline has been.

He was one of my favourite players for the cross ball he played but only managed one all game and gave it away in short passes too much.

I think he has a place as a back up but this for me is the priority position in summer.

I hope he's removed from the team before he harms what ought to be a fantastic legacy. That said, no VAR and, yet again, he's done the thing he's most adored for at this club: scored a brilliant goal. A desperate shame that it got taken away from him and I'll never, ever believe it's right for the game.

It's not bias either, I've made the point about dozens and dozens of perfectly good goals ruled-out by this manifestation of the need to make real football like FIFA/PES.
