In Mike Ashley's broader business career, has he ever sold a company he owned?  Is it possible that part of the problem is that Ashley doesn't actually know how to effectively sell a company and keeps stuffing it up?

The stories coming out now certainly look like an attempt to start providing excuses for why a deal fell through.

The Mirror: ”Ashley insists that a non returnable bond of £250,000 is paid.”

George Caulkin just confirmed a fee of 250k was paid weeks/months ago.

Where did Caulkin say that?

Mirror making it sound like it’s all wind and piss again

So Mike as pocket atleast 750k in the dataroom stage the last couple of years. Great for business being up for sale and not wanting to sell.

In the Peter Kenyon fakeover he (Mike Ashley) lost almost £1m in costs according to Mark Douglas.

He wants to sell, but he wants to sell on his conditions with Sports Direct clauses etc included in the sell.

No, he's just not interested in selling, it's really not that hard.

 He fucking loves taking the piss out of us, knowing full well 52k will be at the next home game no matter what.

Aye but we have to turn up and support the team. Even it means booing them off.

If the prince of saudi can't buy this club, no one can!

The clubs just not for sale and the only thing to make him wanna sell is direct threts and violence to him and sports direct.

I'm not saying it's the right thing to do, but the only thing that would make him want to sell.

It’s not the only thing though. Not turning up would be a better idea, make him lose money from the club. Relegation and staying down too.

One thing’s for certain, staying in the Premier League and not selling to any buyer is certainly not going to get rid of him despite some deluding themselves that we’re a better prospect for sale if we stay in the top tier. Would be all well and good if the fella actually wanted to sell. But he won’t while he continues to make money out of us. That’s it really.

Even an empty stadium won't make him sell. The free advertising and the TV money is worth so much more for him

If we go down he won’t sell because he’ll no longer be offered a sum where he really thinks he’s winning.

Currently his mind set is £340m-£350m for the club. He’s probably going to put another £10m-£25m on that price to really make him thinks he’s won on the deal.

So in his head he’s somewhere near the £360m-£375m price. If we go down he’s not getting that, nowhere near. The club will almost half in value if not more than that price.

He would rather not put any money and let the club go bust like Bury then not win on a deal.

The only way he’s going is if someone is going to pay £360m-£375m for the club. These Saudi’s are one of the few people who are going to do that. If he doesn’t sell, then we have honestly have to hope he kicks the bucket before he drags us too far down the pyramid.

Most, like myself, know it could be the end of the club plummeting down the leagues (just look at the fucking Mackem’s). Being in the top division is an easier prospect of turning the club back to what it once was under new ownership (assumption, but a better bet than languishing in lower divisions).

Staying in the lower leagues will damage our market value and the amount of chancers looking to buy a football club increases.

Him not wanting to sell is more than evident if this fizzles out (as previous attempts have shown).

We are absolutely fucked right now unless the ground suddenly empties week in and week out. Threatening the bottom line is all that matters.

Football purgatory.

There wont be any advertising worth having - no fans = no tv and no tv money because we will have successive relegations . He will sell when it starts costing him money and theres only one way to do that - leave and dont go back till hes gone
