If there weren’t 4 horrendous teams at the bottom, I think he would be under threat. If one or two of those four turn it around then I think Ashley might sack him. As long as they continue to struggle he’ll be safe as houses though.

Knew Pardews career would dither away after he left here.

Bruce will be exactly the same. As managers they just don't have the ability to turn a club around long term and eventually will slip away to non existence.

I honestly believe there are better tactical minds in non league football who will never ever get the chances Bruce gets just because they haven't made it to the top level as players.

Bruce's management career is based solely on his name as a player and because he played under one of the best managers in the history of football. He has absolutely no credentials in his management career that stand out and make people think, "wow he can really do wonders for our football club"

Except Ashley of course, but somehow Bruce is even fucking that up, just like Pardew did, because that's how bad they are.

McClaren was similar level to those two but I don’t hold the same hatred for him. He was just hopeless, Pardew & Bruce are twats.

This is the problem when appointing grossly incompetent managers which end up costing you more in the long term. They each know they won’t get a better gig than this job, so when it invariably starts going tits up they each hang around like a stinking turd that won’t flush.

At least McClaren has had some success in his managerial career.

Bruce’s greatest achievement is finishing 2nd in the Championship.

yeah but as he said a couple of weeks ago - all his previous clubs are now in much worse situations than when he was there.

couldnt make it up ffs.

He also seemed to have an idea of what he wanted, he was just shit at it. I remember being pretty optimistic after we drew 2-2 with a good Southampton team because of the football we played. With hindsight, a midfield pair of Wijnaldum & Sissoko with Perez & Thauvin either side of Mitrovic could have been effective rather than Anita & Jack fucking Colback until Shelvey arrived.

It’s not even true.

Sheff Utd, Huddersfield and Crystal Palace are all in better situations then when he was there.

And Villa of course went from mid-table in The Championship to going up. He had an attack of Grealish, Bolasie & Abraham at that level and still fucked it up.

Yeah, we were passing it around and it was clear he wanted to play that way.

We also had some decent results and performances under him early on- the 6-2 win over Norwich being one, 2-0 win over Liverpool, beating Chelsea etc.

It went to shit after Christmas though

that's what i mean. the more he opens his mouth, the more of an idiot he makes of himself.

unfortunately the vast majority of the media/journalists (other than Hope and Gibbo) seem to be unable or unwilling to pick him up on it.

It looked like we might have a chance when he signed Shelvey & Townsend. Shelvey’s diagonal balls to Janmaat on the overlap with Gini arriving into the box looked canny a few games but he wasn’t good enough. Still wonder where we’d have been now had Benitez managed to keep us up. I still think we’d have sold Sissoko & Wijnaldum but £60m or so to spend on some Premier League players rather than a Championship rebuild, and who knows.

Bruce's limitations are not part of any narrative that promotes the PL.

He's a PL winner that went on to have a successful career as a PL manager, taking control of over 400 [who checks?] PL games.

Think Mcclarens problem was he didn’t quite have the respect of the players. There was a story about wanting the team to go for a walk on the way back from an away game, and no one listened.

It’s true (the no respect from the players).

They were on their way to an away game early on, they stopped off at a services and told the players to stretch their legs etc. none of them left the coach  Sissoko was a big character in the dressing room and he had no respect for him.

Sissoko’s performance in his final game was embarrassing, never seen someone give so little effort before.

You could see from the Spurs documentary how big Sissoko is within the group so that’s not surprising. He’s almost like the glue between the foreign players and English players.

He’s lucky there’s no fans in the grounds. Think even the fairly passive nature of the majority who still attended would be turning on him now.

“The most worrying statistic is the number of shots Newcastle are allowing on their goal, which could suggest a problem with the midfield balance.

Newcastle United currently allowing shots at a rate of 17.2, after Saturday's defeat to Manchester United.

The last Premier League team to surpass that over a season was Sunderland in 2016/17, who were relegated as the division's bottom club and conceded 69 goals in the process, an average of almost two per match.”
