STM
This is all a bit ugly tbh. I detest Bruce and think he's an unpleasant bloke but incidents like this and the Dean situation should serve as a collective check on the way we talk about other human beings at times. I'm definitely no saint when it comes to Bruce and, particularly in the Pardew years as well, I'll have said some really shitty and spiteful things borne out of hatred and disgust at what was happening to the football club (don't think I've ever wished death on anyone mind). But without the social barrier of the recipient actually reading your hate, the gloves come off and we probably go over the top more times than we'd care to admit. I dunno. I'm programed to assume Bruce is being disingenuous, cos he is so often, and he really is an awful custodian of the job - for loads of reasons. I just think, despite everything, it's useful to occasionally be reminded not to completely lose yourself in hate. His point about vulnerable people is absolutely true, and we saw what can happen last year with Caroline Flack. Not meant you sound holier then thou; like I say, I'm no saint. My problem is that I'm not sure where to draw the line. Am I allowed to call him shite? I would happily say that to his face and he would absolutely deserve it. Is that abuse? If he is feeling so much abuse, why hasnt he quit for mental health reasons? I dont want anyone to be genuinely feeling suicidal because of stuff they hear online but I also dont want sackless pieces of shite actively ruining the things I love. Yep, I think that's fair, and what makes it difficult. Maybe you could say, the line is when it gets personal. But me calling him a liar who I can't stand, is personal. Does it cross the line? I don't think so. If I call him a fat liar who I can't stand and hope does of COVID, that's surely a line crossed? It probably is a line crossed but we have all sat in a football stadium right? All these ex footballers, commentators, analysts all claiming this is a social media problem is hilarious. I remember watching us beat Southampton and Kevin Phillip's was upfront for them. He was about 10 yards away and one of our fans stood up and shouted "RAT, RAT, RAT," at the top of his lungs. You could have heard it from the quayside. Its abuse sure, but it's also just the reality of having thousands of drunk people watching a game of football. Our spidey senses are tingling. Steve Bruce and Mike Dean have both used this subject to deflect from the terrible job they have been doing.
Robster
Can I still say I'd piss on Mike Ashley's grave, or is that too far? That's a hell of a piss to reach from Newcastle.
STM
Can I still say I'd piss on Mike Ashley's grave, or is that too far? Precisely. I imagine there isnt an NUFC fan on the internet who hasnt wished death on MA. Even momentarily. Can you imagine him getting sympathy from the press?.... oh yes, yes I can. Danh1
Of course these arent coordinated. People like Neil don’t help Bruce’s cause. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but his is just absolutely ludicrous and it winds people up. It isn’t a coincidence that every set of fans of clubs he’s managed (aside from Hull) detest him. If he is a nice bloke, he doesn’t show it in his interactions with the media. He is a liar and a coward. He’s also a poor football manager, which is why he has the worst record of all who’ve been in charge of over 100 games or something.

STM
Someone made a good point.... Steve isnt on social media. Alex is. Alex receives the "threat" (more abuse than a threat, but hey ho). Alex actively show his father. Steve complains of seeing death threats. This all could have been prevented has his own son not showed the fucking message to his dad. "Here dad, here is a list of nasty things that the fans are saying about you." Just fucking weirdos.
TK-421
Not even 'death threats' are they? More like 'death wishes'. As has been stated, loads of people have wished Mike Ashley a serious injury and worse over the years. But thats different to someone saying.. "Watch your letterbox, mike!" These things hoping he gets covid and dies, aren't 'death threats'... unless the perp says they have raging covid and are going to find Bruce and cough on him. Robster
Fucking hell. I wonder what it feels like to have no self respect. This is all perfectly indicative of the toxic football club that Ashley has developed over his tenure. What was it Llambias said, something along the lines of "You don't know how nasty we can be"

Guest reefatoon
Death threats are not right no matter what. Calling someone out for being an utter cunt and total shit at his job is fair game though and he deserves stick for that.

samptime29
I think he's a c*** and I wouldn't p*ss on him if he was on fire, is that too far? It depends where you draw the line. I think so. It's a strange thing to say. If Bruce was on fire, and you were there, you would let him burn to death because you dont like him as the football manager of your team? It's weird. I understand people calling him a cunt on a message board or on twitter. Football is emotive, these types of things are said. But there clearly is a line. Paully
Them wankers disabling comments on their tweet says it all - total agenda and loads are weighing in against us! ScottishMagpie
Of course these arent coordinated. I haven't seen the thread/conversation where this statement from Mr Curtis developed from but a few thoughts spilling out: a) what's stating that he's a Newcastle fan got to do with the matter? is this like the "I'm one of you guys" speeches so trust what I'm saying? b)what's the apparent fact that he's a nice bloke got to with it? What? If he wasn't a 'nice guy' or 'top bloke' then it's all okay to wish him ill harm? Heck, I'm a nice guy but you wouldn't want me in charge or your multi-million pound assembled football team c) he has categorically NOT done an "incredible job" at his previous clubs. That's just a barefaced lie. Not even open to debate. d) again he is 100% not doing a good job 'now' or anytime that he has been at NUFC. He was given a team all set to stake a claim for a Europa league spot and here we are 1.5 seasons later and look where we're at. e) "Circumstances"..... what circumstances? f) "give him a break"? Why? Just why?!!! Is he calling on fans of other clubs to give their under-fire managers 'a break'?
