Keggy_Keagal Posted Saturday at 17:49 Share Posted Saturday at 17:49 (edited) He's been carrying and playing with a knee injury for months. It's why he didn't play in the three games prior to West Ham in the cup final run up. Dealing and managing injuries is something we've got to get better at as a club. Now in this instance it's been proven to be the correct strategy as we won the trophy but several players have either been very unlucky or mismanaged when it comes to injury. Geordie Ahmed Posted Saturday at 17:50 Share Posted Saturday at 17:50 We need him for the Chelsea game so hopefully it's not a serious injury
M1tche Posted Saturday at 17:57 Share Posted Saturday at 17:57 Big miss on paper, but I feel we have enough in there to not miss him too much in the closing stages of the season, if he is missing. Would prefer him to be playing though
AyeDubbleYoo Posted Saturday at 18:00 Share Posted Saturday at 18:00 Today we didn’t miss him but we have much tougher games coming.

This season, our management of injuries has been excellent. To be any better, we'd have had no injuries.

He’s built like a shithouse, gets around the pitch, gets involved. They will start to rack up now, why we need a good CM so he can be rotated more (and because his style isn’t needed for all games as we have Tonali that can bring the combative side in games). The Prophet
Howe said he trained on Friday, but didn't feel quite right. Sounds like he could play if we absolutely needed him to, but they're worried there's something underlying.
AyeDubbleYoo
Good game for him to rest if he needs it, we were never going to really need him against Ipswich.
The College Dropout
If he can keep managing it he can skip Brighton too.

Agree, but we don't really know what the result of his assessment is yet. It could be he is ruled out for the rest of the season if it's felt it needs to be fixed immediately. Hopefully not obviously, but the last I heard he was seeing a specialist and we take it from there.

I was kind of expecting a loss at Villa and would have absolutely taken a point before kick off, but I'm more confident for Brighton. Tough game sure, but they needed a couple of worldies to beat a poor West Ham team yesterday. If Eddie and the team get the tactics right I'm hoping for at least a point. alexf
Usually a decision to have an op and a "will hopefully be back for the start of next season"
AyeDubbleYoo
Usually, but could be different since we’re close to the end and he maybe only needs to play 2 more games. Anyway, we will see.

et tu brute
Hopefully it's a case of checking if they can continue to manage the injury. Seems like this has been the case so far, but, sensible to get a specialist opinion to be 100%
STM
I'm sure someone had a scan recently and it came back as "good news, not serious" but I suppose not serious could still mean a couple of weeks.
