Obviously a wonderful player for us but I think his current form can be linked to us generally.

He and us seem to be more focused on making it a fight, rather than just playing football. Over emphasising the atmosphere in the ground and getting completely caught up in it.

i don't think thats the issue. Against a much weaker team like Bradford you wouldn’t say that probably. Against Barca and Arsenal we kind of need to when a better team dominates possession and when we win the ball we really struggle to keep it due to too many players not being press resistant enough and our defenders just boot the ball up the field giving the ball straight to the other team. Hopefully Botman and Thiaw (together with a ball playing keeper one day) can change that a bit.

We all know it, our team even with recent success lack flair and technical ability. Read someone’s comment about our team being too “robotic” and to me that is probably a fitting description. We so often look clueless whether it is against a weaker team (e.g. Leeds, Everton) or a top team like Arsenal yesterday creating so little. We looking like we are badly exposed now without a top 5 striker in the world and other attackers like Gordon not being in peak form

I agree with all that. But we’ve all seen how the build up to these games go. The whole ‘get into them’ is great but it’s becoming a constant over egged theme for these games.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t use to atmosphere to our advantage but the really good teams are starting to wise up to it.

I get it’s fine margins too, we should have beaten Liverpool and we should have been at least a goal up v Barca. But if we’re to evolve we need to calm things down when we clearly need to.

Arsenal battered us yesterday in spite of the atmosphere. It’s something I think we need to work on.

Thiaw, Botman, Tonali, Bruno, Miley should all comfortably hold posession against 95% of teams we face. But we bypass midfield with how we play and just boot it to the wings most of the time.

I'm his biggest fan but I think if we want to go to the next level and try to beat presses by passing through the middle and being smart, Joelinton in the middle isn't the answer for me.

Right now, he might actually be our best option on the left up top with the form of Gordon and Barnes the way it is currently. Pretty sure that's where he used to play before he came here.

With Ramsay behind him LMF.

Sure - I think we have a few options tbh, it's all fantasy stuff though as I've not seen much to suggest us ever moving away long term from a flat 3 in the middle.

But Miley behind Tonali and Bruno, or Tonali and Bruno at the base with Ramsey in front would seem like a step forward.

I think either would be better than what we currently do, it would encourage interplay through the middle. We can't play through the middle atm with our flat lines.

From the little I've seen of Ramsey I'm really excited, I think he's absolute quality, like a 5* Joe Willock with his directness but also quick feet and can hold up the ball and resist a press.

Not seen our average positions this season. But do we play with a flat 3 when in possession? Always seems like Joelinton is very wide, Bruno also. With Tonali usually more central and sat deeper.

It feels like a lot of the time, with how direct we go and how quickly we try to

progress the ball up the pitch. We are often miles apart. Not much chance of developing passing patterns when they’re often stretched across the width of the pitch. Especially with how much they have to do off the ball.

I don’t think he is great with the ball. But I also don’t think our problems with holding onto the ball or building up from the back. Are that much to do with Joelinton. We have always been pretty poor at it or something we don’t really look to do since Howe got here.

Gutted to loose Ramsay so soon. At least not out for too long this time! Very technical with the ball at his feet, quick footed and a good eye for what’s on around him.

Wish we would relax about players getting called up to international teams

Yep, super relaxed about lending our expensive assets to idiots with no repercussions for misuse.
