Happinesstan
Thinking about this a bit further. I know when he comes on as a sub he seems less effective than when he starts, But if we're winning the game and don't need him to be the matchwinner, he can be very effective at keeping the ball from the opposition, dragging us up the pitch and winning free-kicks. Like an over-qualified Gutierrez. Edited April 7, 2022 by Happinesstan

Like an over-qualified Gutierrez. Its a right head scratcher. I can't work out whether I want him to start tomorrow or come off the bench. Weirdly I don't like the idea of bringing him on or off if were losing the game. There's really nothing to bring on but him though in that case. Feel or fear we'd be more likely to go behind with him but unlikely to come from behind without him.
loki679
He always looks rubbish when he comes off the bench. Start him and let him get into his groove.
Dokko
Needs a big performance, starting tonight would be canny. Under Howe he's been utter garbage for most part. We all feared this would happen with a more disciplined manager in control. I've still got loads of time for him. The only Bright spark in the last couple of seasons, but he needs to get back in his groove and start putting out performances because everyone is plying for their futures right now, not just him. Thorpinho
Has he started a game with Bruno yet, or would tonight be the first time?
gbandit
He started Bruno away against Chelsea and Everton I think
jackyboy
Our current position doesn't leave a lot of room for 'flair' players. Maxi is incredible on his day but one thing he isn't is a fighter and we need 11 fighters until we are safe. We could do a lot worse than playing Fraser on the left and Ritchie on the right. He has no pace but he can whip crosses in and always gives 100%. It would also shore up the right and the left side of our defence
loki679
Ritchie.......

gbandit
Why not stop there, recall Hendrick and ship either Joelinton or Bruno out the side
wormy
Need to go back to the famed British pashun basics. None of those namby pamby forrins with their tricks and twirls.
Guest neesy111
This place man. Ritchie was an absolute liability in every game he played.

Aiston
Sticking Willock out wide would be a better option than Ritchie. Opens the midfield for Bruno as well.

Chris_R
Drop ASM for Ritchie, ffs. Was that posted by Ritchie's mum? Gotta be the only person who'd think that's sensible and even she could probably be talked round.

Nine
How have we got to the point of discussing reasons to drop him or switch his position? He will be starting in his natural position whenever he is available
sushimonster85
I feel like a chunk of the fanbase live in some alternate reality, or 2/3 seasons in the future, where maybe we have the squad depth to actually entertain the idea of not playing our best attacking threat. I get that he can be very hit or miss, and a defensive liability at times, but the fact of the matter is we win more games when he plays. That isn't a coincidence. Even when he is having a poor game he can either generate something out of absolutely nothing and turn a draw into a win, or defeat to draw. Or the other team has to commit at least two men towards him when he is dribbling with the ball, generating space for others.
Disco
Can’t wait to boo him tonight; soft French piece of shit. Hopefully a real player like Karl Henry or Kevin Muscat snaps the lazy cunt in two when he’s doing a trick instead of a safe English pass. Greedy fucker. Outremont
It’s unfair Maxi cops this much criticism, especially when Burn has cost us at least 6 of the last 9 points and gets away with it.
