Callum Wilson: offered 'incentive-based' contract extension (Ornstein)

It is just an observation that Wilson was mobile and contributed a lot in the build up play, which Isak has not been able to do for weeks. Isak has played poorly despite the couple of in play goals.

I don't want Wilson playing. Nor do I want this unfit version of Isak playing tbh. But Wilson didn't look completely out of place today.

If you mean contributing to us losing the ball, yeah. I’d love to see his highlight reel.

Without a league goal.

Scored in the cup v Brum

And that was only because Osula somehow spooned it from 2 yards, so Wilson then tapped it in from 1 yard :D

How can anyone watch that game and say Wilson was a positive. Arsenals CBs were under no pressure at all, they were more troubled by Rayas kicking than anything Wilson did.

Don't think anyone would say that. He was even worse than I thought he'd be and I wasn't expecting much. 1 more game then release him.

There’s the reason why you dropped out of college.

He was to  point. But then he doesn't look like scoring any more and that really is what he's in the team for.

There’s a massive gulf between ‘past his best’ and unable to meaningfully contribute.

He gets away with murder on here, frankly - though less so today admittedly. When was the last time our number 9 went an entire season without scoring a league goal? Has it ever happened? Either way it’s an absolute running pisstake.

He can't be given a new contract. Always be remembered as a good level striker for the club, but he offers virtually nothing now. No doubt his injuries have majorly taken their toll, but the time has come.

Started alright for 5 - 10 mins but then faded badly. Not surprising really as it's only his 2nd start this season they said  and he's only been getting the odd 15 mins off the bench mostly.

But it's been clear ever since last season that the body is done and there isn't a champions league chasing premier quality player left in there.

Praying that we can get Isak available for next week. If we can't then I don't think Wilson starting is the best alternative.

Let’s not risk playing him and him getting injured in the last game, and us stuck with him

He is out of contract after the game.

He’s been shite for years, with the odd goal [emoji38]

If he was making himself a nuisance for the CBs but shit with everything else, you can just about justify starting him for Everton game. But his body is so broken, he seemingly doesn’t even do that any more, instead some half-arse backing in where he flops over.

Osula is clearly a winger only in Howes view right now, so if Isak wasn’t fit, it would have to be Gordon up top. Still not great, but vastly better.

Just confirms how a 2nd striker is key, or a RW who can play up front and is fit and reliable themselves.
