I suspect we're playing him to give him the opportunity to convince us to give him another year.

So far, I wouldn't. But he does seem to be getting a little better with each game which is promising.

I think he's trying too hard at times, lashing early shots, snatching at things, being a little greedy, which contributes to what I'm thinking - he's playing for another year. Remember him shooting instead of playing Gordon (I think) in during his first game back? Or maybe he's just determined to get to 50 for us. I dunno.

Don’t think we can afford to carry him after the summer unless he is 3rd choice. That doesn’t leave Big Willie with a slot so he may go over the summer as Howe doesn’t have much faith in him. Maybe he’s purely here for after match bants, shits and giggles.

Could look at it as Eddie giving him game time because he knows he's not getting a renewal and wants him to enjoy his last few months with us.

Although agree with the consensus, looks like he's running through treacle half the time.

Think he would benefit a team that plays 2 up top and has his partner doing all the leg work - probably still a lethal poacher.

I keep hearing stuff like this. His sharpness is gone. It happened to Shearer at 34/35 and he was significantly better than Callum.

Genuinely sad to see the impact injuries have had on him, like.

Take absolutely nothing away from what the bloke has done for us, mind. Was such an important player for us - particularly when we had an owner that couldn't give a toss and a fat cunt in the dugout that couldn't be arsed with coaching

He scored 12 goals in all comps for us the season before the takeover happened. Let’s not go crazy.

12 goals for a club owned by Mike Ashley, a team managed by Steve Bruce, and with an injury record that meant he only played 28 games.

You have my permission to go crazy without restriction. Best striker of the Ashley era.

Our top scorer that season in a team managed by Steve Bruce.

Ashley era in isolation Ba was obviously better. 29 league goals in a season and a half. Such an unselfish player too.

Not for me, Geoff. Preferred Remy over Ba as well personally, but both also played in better teams and (somehow) under better managers than Wilson did pre-Howe. Being almost 1 in 2 under Bruce and in that team is impressive. All good players though and I do think it's between those 3 for who was best.

Let’s not go overboard, 33% of the goals were penalties in 20-21.

Hardly Ivan Toney like and his other seasons speak for themselves. Even then, of those 28 appearances, 5 of them were him coming back from injury and only playing half an hour, his ratio works out as 0.5 per 90 that season, under Steve Bruce.

Stats aside I just think he was a much better player personally.
