He'd probably end up wide left again if he was.

I'd play bruno Anderson joelinton/Tonali depending on the game.

we need as much creativity in the middle as we can. Then we could push Ramsey higher up on a flank were he played for villa.

For the amount he'd cost he'd have to be.

Understand he’s a local and all that, but I still struggle to comprehend how anyone would like us to go/try for him for the amount of money he’d cost.

Good player yes. However, how much would he actually strengthen us? Especially when you consider how that amount of money could be used to strengthen other starting positions where we’re actually much weaker, both when it comes to starting positions as well as depth.

Would be an idiotic use of funds.

I would like us to sell Willock and get another CM in, but not one for that price (at the cost of other more urgent positions).

We do need a player who can pick the ball up and drive the ball forward through the centre of midfield. Joelinton was doing it against Man U and it made all the difference.

Whether Elliott would be that player I don't know. I think he did have that skillset but never really saw it for us, and at Forest I haven't really followed his career as much. In the games I saw he seemed to have a lot more time and space on the ball than he got here.

I agree that we need this type of player. However 80-100m on Elliott would be a terrible use of funds.

I don't think it's a realistic transfer either way, for several reasons. We need several players, so it's a lot to pay for just one, and also would he even pick us anyways? Not sure he'd pick us just because he's local if he could instead get paid more while fighting for the biggest trophies.

I can see him coming back once he's got a big money move and run his contract down at that club. Comes here as a seasoned pro for a few years similar to Tripps.

Feels Wharton would be a better fit for City than Anderson.

I think Wharton lacks the legs and the bite. Wharton is better on the ball but I don’t think he can cover the wide ground Anderson can. Not as aggressive as well. I might be misprofiling Wharton but I think Anderson is better under pressure too. Got those quick feet.

He was at the league cup final tbf. If he believes in the project and the wages where good he might choose us. He’s not turning city down for us mind but most of the rest yh.

We likely won’t have Europe next year and won’t have the games to keep six starting caliber CMs happy. So aside from the fact that he’d probably choose to go to a club with higher wages and CL football anyway, it’s bad allocation of resources for us as well unless Tonali or someone else is leaving.

With 5 subs and attacking the cups there’s plenty of games, we play with three midfielders so six is the optimum. Joelinton will always miss games, Ramsey too and Bruno has picked up the worst injury of his Newcastle career.

Won’t argue about price being a potential blocker but not squad numbers or I’d hope to never read posts criticising Eddie for lack of rotation.

I agree, Wharton doesn't cover as much ground and struggled with the defensive side of the game, but he's much better with the ball, hence why he feels more like a Man City player.

I think he'll end up back with us, after 4 or 5 years at Citeh or wherever he ends up. I'd hate to see him playing for Man U.

Whoever did the Anderson deal really fucked up by not putting in a buy back clause. We'd be in a great position if they had.
