Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Phillips was weird because he was never going to be a starter with Rodri there. And Grealish was a very good player, who was just nerfed by Pep to play to certain qualities (ball retention).

Man City need legs in the middle, and more HG quota moving forward. Not really a surprise if they want to make a play for Anderson (similar to why they’re continuously linked with Tino). Rjeinders has been poor, Silva and Kovacic will be off in summer, so there’s a big CM spot ready to be filled alongside Rodri. Plus how Anderson has been performing for England, he’s showing he can do that deep CM role exceptionally well which Man City still lack without Rodri (Gonzalez too weak).

Gonzalez has been one of our best players this season. We won't see Rodri again, not the way he was.

We're desperate for someone with legs in midfield. Bernardo from a few years ago.

Yeah, won the lot and played an integral part in the Treble Season. Hopefully he looks at that

Why do you think he's ended up at Everton? Reckon it's more to do with how Grealish has went on off the pitch with his drinking shenanigans?

I think that's exaggerated by the media - although it doesn't help ever summer that he's seen pissed up constantly. But Grealish himself has said openly he was never a player that contributed goals and assists massively, even at Villa.

I think Pep wanted a change of style and move back to fast direct wingers (like Sanè and Sterling) but unfortunately Savio is terrible and Bobb seems to have lost all confidence since being injured for a year. Probably why the Semenyo links.

He looked quality Bobb as well before that leg break.

How much can a player force a low fee?

Hypothetically let's say Anderson ONLY WANTS Newcastle and he tells Forest this does that mean we get to lowball because otherwise they'll get nothing when his contract is up?

See Isak/Wissa. I don't suspect their owner is one who's gonna get bullied. See also MGW.

In this hypothetical, yes it does mean we can lowball.

But they could do a Steve Parish and just not care.

Yes, but his contract isn't up until June 2029 so I doubt Forest are too worried about any "Anderson the Rat" situation.

Now do Rodwell, Barkley & Phillips after their big moves. :)

Rice is pretty unique, you could tell he'd go into a top team and boss it. Not sure Anderson has that profile.

When Rice went to Arsenal there was the same talk as now with Anderson. Talks about being overpriced and how he doesn't produce enough g/a. My only point is that his g/a at Forest might not be that representative for what he can do in terms of g/a elsewhere.

Not a chance this is the case

That's what my thought was. How can that be possible? At the time he signed he was very much in the unproven will he make won't he make it bracket. A club like forest giving him 100k per week would be mental.

This Cunt re-signed yet ?

In all honesty if he re-signed I think it would be a matter of time before most are questioning why we need yet another water-carrier in midfield.  It’s only because of Tuchel’s dull as fuck tactics that folks are banging on about him being bought back.

I'd love to have Bruno, Tonali, Miley and Anderson as the basis of our midfield for the next four or five years and then add a couple of specialists. As much as Tonali has been off form and the midfield continues to struggle or play an ancillary role, I still feel that when one of him or Bruno are absent we are likely to lack a bit of personality in the midfield, and risk becoming more ragged or passive. Anderson would solve that problem but he's probably out of our price range at the moment and we have in Ramsey another stolid midfielder rather than a specialist who at least seems to be finding his form.

I agree. Would've been great if he'd stayed but he didn't, and we need to move on.

Couldn't disagree more - I think he's exactly the type of midfielder we need atm. The lad can play across the midfield and with the number of games we have been playing that adaptability would have been priceless.  It's absolutely b******s we had to sell him and then spend more on Ramsey who isn't close to his ability.

There's been a nice article on him today https://archive.ph/FjO0k

He's very good and I agree with you that it's bollocks we had to sell. I've said myself that. But for the price quoted. 80 million +? Time to move on
