alexf
I know this is a stupid question as it's been the same story with Gordon for a year, but how is he not getting a shot away from that Willock cross. Looked like he just had to tap it in with his left but tried to control it with his right and missed the ball. Zero striking instincts on that guy whatsoever. Lost count of the the amount of games we probably should have won if we had a proper striker playing instead of him. Villa away, Liverpool home, Barcelona at home etc. Edited November 27, 2025 by alexf

Rich
Think that’s Willock’s true position, as one of the two floating wide men behind a striker. Still shocked at how good he was considering the team wasn’t functioning smoothly at all in the 3-4-2-1 shape with the changes we made. He must’ve been showing something in training to be back to first sub off the bench for the usual midfielders, so fair play to him for that.
Lush Vlad
He hasn't lost that deceptive speed, at least. I'm not surprised defenders always think they are getting to the ball or that they can go with him. As he doesn't look like he is getting there. But then he always seems to. He is fucking rapid when he gets going and he has room to run. I'm not suggesting we should. But if we are going to keep playing 3 at the back and use the 3-4-2-1 at times this season. Then at least he has a position. Especially if it is going to be in games where we are looking to counter and have a lot less of the ball.

Skeletor
Time to move on from him. Sell him and get someone young and promising in to take his place.

Sadly, I agree with this. If he could perform consistently like he did the other night then he’d be amazing for us. I just don’t think there’s the evidence that his game can be that consistent and I’m sick of players in the team that are massively up and down like Gordon. So I’d seriously consider selling while he has value
Novocastrian
Been willing him on but he’s had so many false dawns. Now’s the time to cash in and bring in some young thruster from the continent.

I 100% agree, just wish we’d take more risks when it comes to replacements. Lately so much emphasis on prem experience , even when cost, injuries, form or something make it seem like we aren’t improving near enough. Our 11 still isn’t that good. No top prospects either. When you think none of our u23s seem to have close to the potential of Elanga, Joelinton (in different ways even), Bruno, I mean our wing, forward, mid options are great for certain matches, but nothing coming thru. Need to beat Brighton off the pitch in terms of value signings

We’ve qualified for CL with some average teams. Eventually the cartels endless signings will click. Near 150mil on Ramsey, Wissa and Elanga. I’d be thinking there’s got to be a winger with pace and a higher technical ceiling, younger and cheaper abroad. Minteh is a good example. 1 year and he was ready. Spending 10-15 for a winger about as good as Elanga is what we have to do, in positions where we can’t sign wait a season to rely on them.

Yeah I mean, you can always wish for better and cheaper signings than the ones we have made. But the Brighton comparison is one I always find weird because they have ambitions to have a few Europa qualifications at best. I'm just saying it might not be so easy to just get cheap, class players to take us where we want to go.

Look at their most expensive signings, it's hit and miss like most teams.

TRon
Another powerful contribution. Still looks like he's missing the final touch, but he looks like the player of a couple of seasons ago other than that.

Kid Icarus
It's two matches so not going overboard, but considering I had big doubts we'd ever even see the same player again, just knowing that that player still exists is huge.

Tough decision now I think about whether we try to cash in while his stock is high knowing that he has these ups and downs + injuries, or stick with him because he’s a genuine quality squad option and starter option when he plays like he has done the last couple of games. I think I err towards the former rather than latter I think, even though I’ve always been a big cheerleader of him
Mole
I find it interesting that he's been considered a CM all season and his latest performances have both been from the right wing. Would honestly keep him there assuming he is still here past January.

It’s a blessing and a curse. As he was so good in that wide left/LCM role with Joelinton and he is great when the game opens up. But he doesn’t really have other attributes to make him a decent CM. As the team has evolved and we got other players in. He became a bit postionless.
Displayname
I'd cash in if we get a decent offer. Even if he maintains his newly found form, the chances of him keeping it and staying injury free long term isn't that great.
