Steve Bruce (now unemployed)

He's a tedious WUM just like so many others.

It's a reaction from him as he failed here because he's s***. He knows it as well.

Don't really consider him one of the WUM brigade tbh, he's just a bitter ex-player who hasn't come to terms with the fact he was a s*** manager. If he had ever been considered a successful manager then his views would be of more interest, but he wasn't. He won some stuff at Liverpool on the back of the groundwork done before him, then he promptly turned that to s***. He also a trophy or two at Rangers where he spent much more than Celtic, the only other club in the league capable of winning anything.

Not disputing, but he also won the League Cup at Blackburn.

Yet he still went on to prove he was a useless manager with us. No idea what the circumstances were with his short term success at Blackburn, but he proved at Liverpool that winning trophies meant nothing there, they went on a downward spiral so fast the longer he stayed there. They were almost unrecognisable as a big club by the time they kicked him out.

Blackburn were one day away from sacking Souness when we went in and offered compensation to take him as NUFC manager.  Blackburn couldn't believe how lucky they were to get compensation when they thought they were going to have to pay up his contract when they sacked him!!

With that insight in mind, just be grateful Graeme kept us up.

WTF had never heard that, what a load of bollocks.

“We took two points from a possible 12 and couldn’t just stand back and watch Newcastle slide out of the Premiership."

2 draws and 2 defeats in a 4 game run...

including being robbed away at villa. they should have had a red card - keeper i think.

Yep - Sorensen as well - we were 2-1 up and missed a sitter to go 3-1 up

Boro away first game - 2-1 up - Hasselbaink punched in an injury time equaliser

Norwich - 2-0 up - cruising - 2-2

Ollie out so we could get Babayaro in, what the fuck was that all about?

Aaron Hughes too.  A defender who could play across the entire back four & who played 200+ Premiership games after he left us.  He was sold for an absolute pittance as well.

Yeah, baffling one that, thought he'd spend whole career here. Just thrown away and so hard to replace a player like that.

And Dyer slipped. Rotten luck, kills me to this day thinking 'what if' we'd at least won that one, Bobby got more time, we'd have beaten Blackburn at home next game, pressure would be gone and so on. Probably would have still gone to shit just a year later if Bobby stayed til following summer.

Think is was the whole 'Young Guns' thing that put paid to SBR - Dyer, Bellamy, Jenas and perhaps Shola giving it the Billy Big Bollocks, whilst just not delivering enough.

Bramble, too.

I do remember him banging on about wingers being a thing of the past here.

Just as Chelsea won the league in both seasons with Duff and Robben.

Those Dougie contributions are new for me, or had at least forgot them. We started slow under Sir Bobby in the previous two seasons, 1 win in 5 and no wins in 6. Finished 3rd and 5th.

I thought it was because Sir Bobby was retiring at the end of that season and that sort of thing never works out, think Strachan did it a few years earlier and Southampton's form tanked and they ended up having to sack him. Figuring Sir Bobby was leaving anyway so bringing it forward was easier than selling and replacing players. Apparently though it was just good old fashioned footballl based f*ckwittery.

"Basically' date=' I'm a 4-4-2 man but I'm not big on systems and tactics. Systems are for schoolteachers. I'm big on great players working their socks off. If you have that, you don't have to say too much to them."[/quote']

“You can talk about tactics as much as you like, it’s all about players”.

The game's moved on 16 years since then and we've still got one of these total fucking imbeciles who don't believe in tactics

Bernard’s hip was fucked, wasn’t it? He needed replacing.

Souness also signed 46 year old Craig Moore. From Rangers I think.

Didn't really have a problem with that one, he was on a free (and 30 yo). He was a free agent after a brief spell with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

And enjoyed having a player score at the 06 WC.

“Even so, they will want their team to win this weekend. If they do not, they should probably look up the dictionary definition of supporter and ask if that still applies to themselves”
