LoveItIfWeBeatU
I really hope Mike Ashley does sue the Premier League. Even if it doesn't result in the takeover going through it will be good to see the Premier League squirm and have their "dirty laundry washed in public". Are the Premier League going to say in court that Saudi Arabia aren't "fit and proper" after passing the Man City, Sheffield, Chelsea, etc. owners (the O & D test is supposed to be applied every year)? Guest
I suppose Ashley could still try to sue even if PIF have no intention of coming back. This has cost him £350m or so, he’ll fight for something.
Ikon
What is more confusing? This takeover saga or Interstellar on a hangover?
manorpark
Still nothing on the BBC, which is a bit odd. Mate they don’t give a f***, just us. They are busy speculating on Sancho. On the BBC now . . . https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54095850 This is going to be great sport. I don't think the PL have a chance!!
Rosenrot
Unfortunately I still can’t see this going anywhere. I don’t think Ashley will sue.

gdm
Be just our luck that mike sues them for £300m and wins meaning he doesn’t need to sell the club anymore. Stuck with him forever
Scotty66
In typical Ashley style he won't start any legal preceedings just because he's so fucking unpredictable.
number9shirt
But where is Henry, Luke? WHERE. IS. HENRY?!?!?! "Tedious, confusing and unfair on fans." Couldn't have have described himself any better.

manorpark
Unfortunately I still can’t see this going anywhere. I don’t think Ashley will sue. Seriously? Did you read the club's statement . . . "This conclusion has been reached despite the club providing the Premier League with overwhelming evidence and legal opinions that PIF is independent and autonomous of the Saudi Arabian government." "The club and its owners do not accept that Premier League chief executive Richard Masters and the Premier League have acted appropriately in relation to this matter and will be considering all relevant options available to them." xLiaaamx
Eh. A bit too much Ashley cheering on twitter. He's still the enemy.
GWN
Unfortunately I still can’t see this going anywhere. I don’t think Ashley will sue. I think he will or why put out this statement? This is his last chance to get this much money for the club, soon will be worth half the amount, he wants this . Imho
Teasy
So am I right in thinking that the Premier League appeal process is decided by a panel appointed by the Premier League itself?

Yes. I have read it. It will all depend on whether their lawyers think the case is winnable. The problem is that PIF is clearly not autonomous and independent of the Saudi Arabian government. I know it’s complete hypocrisy when compared to Man City etc. but hey this is Newcastle United, what do we expect?

Sima
Apparently the Premier League aren’t very cash rich. They’re better off just waving it through at this point.

But do you not think he'd have taken that advice before making such a incredibly strong statement? "overwhelming evidence" saying the top guy at the Premier League has "acted inappropriately". It's pretty strong for someone who's not yet decided his position. By the way we're is your evidence that PIF are clearly not autonomous?
Stifler
Apparently the Premier League aren’t very cash rich. They’re better off just waving it through at this point. They aren’t. Their accounts legit show nothin in it. Aside from money they need for expenses, everything gets paid out to it’s member clubs and parachute payments.
