Guest Cheesy Beans
Supposing Ashley pulls this off and gets this pushed through, does this give him a clean slate? If it’s a clean slate we can use to hit him out of the door with and never see or hear from him again, absolutely.

Guest
Ideal scenario would be taken over November , new manager brought in November/December , just in time for January window The new owner will no doubt give Bruce a token chance so it’d be good to get them in now, so he has the tricky 6 games and an easy excuse to sack him off. 1964
Supposing Ashley pulls this off and gets this pushed through, does this give him a clean slate? Only if said clean slate goes clean through the middle of his head. To suggest this is altruism is ridiculous, he's doing it for himself and in no way does in negate over a decade of mismanagement

nufcjb
Are the Premier League really sweating over this? Honest question. I don't know what they are thinking right now about it.
TK-421
Are the Premier League really sweating over this? Honest question. I don't know what they are thinking right now about it. You would hope as reported, Ashley wants the Takeover approved, so he get his £300m, and can ride off into the sunset to buy some more shops. The alternative is probably that the lawyers have told him he has a case of restraint of trade, and he will threaten to sue them for the money lost... the £300m. He's unlikely to get that much (if any) money from the PL in the end, as they can't afford it, so they either cave and approve it, or formally reject it so an official appeal can begin. But rather than Mike just sounding off in the media, he's backed it up with some heavy duty legal muscle (and a half decent baker), so he appears to be serious about taking it further, if needed. Thats my take, at least.

An asset isn't much of an asset if you can't realise it. He's been deprived of the opportunity to cash in to the tune of £300m, unless the FA/BeIN Sports can come up with an alternative buyer who will offer anywhere near that sum, then Ashley will have a pretty good case that he's been prevented from trading. Agreed. But the measure of his damages wouldn't be £300 million. It would be the difference (if any) between £300 million and the actual fair market value of the club (however that is determined) minus however much of the £17 million deposit Ashley kept. Yes, but the only concrete figure we have to go off is the £300 million, and that is what the lawyers will argue was blocked without good reason by the FA. That IS the fair market value since that is what he achieved at the point of sale.
