jdckelly
80 MP's have now written to the PL. Thought the government werent interfering lol How many was it that wrote letters to block it? they haven't interfered, writing a letter is expressing an opinion not interfering its not like boris has marched up to premier league hq and ordered them to immediately pass it or even just ordered them to explain it or else your shut down. Don't give fifa ideas like any politician expressing any opinion on the running of football in their country is government interference because god knows how corrupt it would become then
Guest Cheesy Beans
The Chronicle’s article is clearly from MA’s side of the deal, based on it’s content. This should calm some supporters who have been claiming for two weeks it’s definitely off. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-takeover-saga-appears-18759829 Interesting that the deal still remains on the PL table, and as suspected it is MA who would need to submit the withdrawal to the PL. “Mike Ashley - who is, crucially, yet to officially withdraw the takeover proposal - seems wedded to the idea too.”

NE27
See Martin Samuel has a new piece out. As far as I can tell he's saying Prem havnt rejected deal but PIF pulled out because they didn't wish to list MBS as a director and rebuffed arbitration from PL. So seemingly trying to lay some blame at Buyers door. Not beyond the realms tbh

Not beyond the realms tbh If true Samuels story suggests the league were trying to wriggle out of any legal comeback by totally absolving themselves of making the decision. But it does make me think if govt or MP’s are trying to facilitate behind the scenes, the PL may still be open to it being resolved.

No wonder they declined the independent arbitrator.

So seemingly trying to lay some blame at Buyers door. Not beyond the realms tbh this bit if true is really odd to me, why not go for arbitration if your getting nowhere with the PL itself? Overall (without reading it fuck going onto the mails ad filled website) it sounds from this article that PIF want the PL to accept things exactly as they laid out no compromise? Which isn't exactly a brilliant way to deal with things
Wandy
I dont understand the paragraph below? "If an arbitrator had ruled in Newcastle’s favour, the Saudis would have been required to go ahead with owner registration. This would have given the League the right to call Newcastle’s ownership to account over TV piracy by network beoutQ." If the arbitration decision went in the Saudis' favour, why would that then allow the PL to link them to piracy?
