What is the most impressive football top that you have ever owned?

Recommended Posts

I remember when I was about 10 years old, in about 1973,  I had a hand me down Wolves top from late 50's early 60's which had short sleeves (unheard of at the time) and everyone at school was so jealous, I also had a Dusseldorf and Krefeld top as my brother was in the Army based there.

Didn’t own but I played for a team where our strips were the previous year’s NUFC 1st team kit. I played Centre Forward and can always say that I scored a hat trick wearing the famous number 9 on my debut at the training ground at Benwell. It was Micky Quinn’s Greenhalls kit.

Not had many outside Newcastle shirts but I got the 95/96 Barca one when I was 11 which I must have clicked to high heaven I wore it all the time. Had the 01/02 Roma away shirt with Montella on the back which I loved. Somehow acquired the 91/92 Swindon shirt which I still have. My fav of all time was the green and blue striped 93-95 one though. Still think it's one of the nicest shirts Ive ever seen. Maybe that was more to do with the experience at the time.

Holland Euro 88 (H). Probably a snide.

Been watching some videos from a kid (whey, lad who must be in his early 20s) on YouTube as I’m looking to get some more classics.

He managed to get his hands on one from Myanmar that’s authentic. Apparently it wasn’t available to buy before the tournament. As the Dutch won, Adidas started knocking them out and there’s Japanese, European and South American versions - all with slightly different badges.

First shirt I ever got and it was a surprise for Christmas, remember how buzzing I was knowing all the football parties that would be happening the rest of the year is have a shirt to wear and not feel left out.

Not to mention it’s an absolute beauty.

A Corinthians top sometime in the late 80s. Felt right with it being black and white.

I've got one of Gassa's England shirts, signed by the man himself. My dad won it in a raffle at Dunston Fed.

My dad was as drunk as he always was after an afternoon of Big Ray, so we've never known which match it was from.

I bought a OFI top when I was in Crete from a ' Specialist market stall', signed by the full squad the season they won the league. It wasn't until about 5 years later that I found out they had never won the league, It wasn't their badge and they didn't play in green.

Our 95/96 Home/Away combo will be the best we will ever have even if we are still playing 1000 years from now, nothing else will ever come close.

Agreed

Same for me. Had to sell it in the summer, was gutted.

Got that as a birthday present for my 30th. Was lovely.

Got shrunk in the wash, was snug as hell... then I put on weight and it was game over. Also lost the lacing and it didn't look as good.

Might get it again actually, was class.
