As usual the government have set lofty goals without knowing the real prices, how to secure funding or ways to achieve said goals. A lot of funding has been diverted towards the ultimate vanity project in The World Cup too. I think that might also have been the reason they bought us though. If it was a vanity project they'll have had no problem throwing money at it assuming that they could very quickly build a team that won everything. The cartel and their minions at PL headquarters have acted to make sure they can't do this, and I always fear that if they aren't allowed to win stuff, they might well sell up and invest in another club that can. Effectively it works in the same way as PSR. The best owners as well as the best players are prodded and cajoled towards the approved cartel clubs. This is just me speculating by the way, but it's the direction I'm seeing.
Stifler Posted Tuesday at 15:43 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:43 There isn’t any suggestion that they are selling us. They are on about a new training ground, new stadium, bringing in a DOF for the women’s team, bringing on new board members etc. It’s all hyperbole. McCormick Posted Tuesday at 16:09 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:09 They won’t be selling us imo. Even from an investment point of view it’s a poor time to sell and from a vanity/optics pov it’ll look like a massive failure. I’m sure they’ll see this a long term project and the club (as it already is) will benefit massively from their stewardship.

gjohnson Posted Tuesday at 16:34 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:34 Complicated to understand. As far as I am aware they are ultimately an investment fund. They usually want more back then they put in...so short term they sell us to someone else to get money back, or invest hoping for more later on by selling or for the intangibles for KSA. I think we're in relative safe hands if they hope for any sort of profit from us short medium and long term.
Miggys First Goal Posted Tuesday at 16:47 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:47 Ah, so we’re back to being sold again? It’s like a weekly occurrence.
TRon Posted Tuesday at 16:49 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:49 It helps that the Reubens are on board as they do actually have local connections. But the limitations of FFP/PSR do mean that PIF themselves have no incentive to break any rules or invest huge amounts in a hurry, they can quite happily just treat the whole thing as an investment. What I’m trying to say is that the article will be a lot on conjuncture, opinion etc. There are no real tell tale signs of them selling up in terms of running the club. Dr Jinx Posted Tuesday at 17:15 Share Posted Tuesday at 17:15 we've essentially spent fuck all since the summer before last.. is that 3 windows now? In terms of PSR, if we don't spend for a few years, does that mean we could come out fighting in the summer?
Jackie Broon Posted Tuesday at 17:40 Share Posted Tuesday at 17:40 We haven't quite spent fuck all because we technically signed Hall last summer. But we are likely to have more headroom to spend this summer.

I don't understand it either but the take over players all signed bar bruno and Gordon all are on their amortisation costs per year the same when they signed the losses drop off a 3 year cycle but the costs per year wage and amortisation remain the same? Someone will tell me if I have been too thick to understand it. Not expecting massive moves in the summer partly due to the numbers who may go on frees if the youth don't step up to take meaningful squad places we will need squad padding and first 11 quality signings. Yeah, but the Vlachodimos deal is a PSR benefit in the short term, theoretically releasing up to £100m of extra PSR headroom.

TBG Posted Tuesday at 18:55 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:55 The owners have the ability and channels to tell us hourly that they aren't selling up. The fact they out right refuse to do so is quite telling.
