it’s very clear just reading this forum mate

Ah right.

Thought you were being serious.

The most important part in that article is

The 41-year-old has a good relationship with Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, who is involved in the process along with majority shareholders, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), and co-owner James Reuben, which is thought to count in his favour.

Eddie Howe being in favour is a must or it'll just not work. AGAIN!

Ross Wilson who was at Rangers? The one Huddersfield want as Sporting Director? Fucking hell, some people fall upwards don’t they.

Have you got this lad mixed up with someone? Yes, was at Rangers, but currently at Forest.

He was about to take the Huddersfield job a month ago.

Uninspiring appointment for me.

Uninspiring because he didn't take the Huddersfield job when offered?

If you look at the recruitment at Forest since he came in (he was still at Rangers when they had that truly mental spree) he has done well. Plus, has a good relationship with Howe already, which is key.

Which sporting directors would inspire you?

Had enough of "big name" sporting directors personally with the bother we've had with the last two. Just get someone who can competently handle the nuts and bolts of the job and get on with everyone at the club. Don't really need one with a flashy recruitment reputation as we have Nickson to identify the potential PSR gems and continental bargains if we're inclined to go that way.

A week ago we were about to sign Ekitike to play alongside Isak.

Now that our transfer plans have had to be pushed back everyone is on the doom wagon again.

Yes the communication could be better, but let’s not forget that the last time they tried it, the fans and then the media tried to make out something meant something it didn’t. The stuff we want info on also by FA, Premier League rules, and now by law has to go through the FAB.

It is frustrating not to hear about a new training ground, or stadium, but they have to get this right in the communication otherwise everyone oppose to it, will use what they say against them, this is probably more true of the stadium than the training ground. I still believe that for the training ground they are waiting for the land at Longbenton to become available.

I think that'll be houses - but whatever the reason just communicate.  Gotta understand the frustration from fans - we just want to hear what their plans are.  No use saying No.1 then seeing no movement in the two years since the documentary.

Best in class

As long as he can negotiate fees and player contracts he can leave the player identification to Nickson and Co.

Dont need a big name talent spotter type of DoF like Mitchell or Monchi, we need a good football administrator who can run the various departments in addition to the above.

All this to say, I am quite unhappy with the lack of communication, the removal of PCP as asset manager, the length of time taken to replace Eales post diagnosis, and the farce that has been the Mitchell hire and sudden departure.  We have no news on stadium, training ground, etc.

I lay that firmly on PIF and RB who seem to only be active when the season is in-play. I question the overall plan right now because we haven't heard a single thing. Don't tell us a stadium news is imminent through random talk-ins or press, just come out and say what you're trying to do in a simple release. Tell us you're working on the replacement of the key executive roles and that you will provide an update on X date. Be transparent. The owners (hopefully RB) should be keenly aware how much PTSD we have from Ashley and the lack of communication and the contempt at which he and his cronies treated us. It's a very simple thing to fix.

This is why It's been imperative to me we keep Eddie Howe happy at all costs, he's the only one communicating with us and his work on the pitch and whatever moves he's tried to make in the transfer market are currently the only bits of proof we have that we're trying to follow up the best footballing results season in 70 years with ambition to attack 4 competitions to hopefully bring 1 trophy back home.

The owners would have delegated the appointment of chief executives. Who is actually making the decisions on who takes over from Eales?

I don't even know what you're trying to say.

In any case, i liked this bit about Wilson.

His profile as a sporting director who creates a strong club culture and builds the infrastructure needed to support a manager is also seen as being a good fit for Howe who is hands-on with recruitment and football matters.

Appears to have a good head of hair and if he's the same sort of uninspiring appointment that Eddie Howe turned out to be, then who knows :)

Got to get the next appointment right. We need to get some stability.

Surely the Geordie from Brentford is the answer?

Seems extremely capable and connected for unearthing talent which is the main thing with the added bonus of being a fan so you’d like to think he’d love the challenge and be a very loyal servant to the club.
