We already threatened them with legal action over this. It’s very difficult for them to keep doing it indefinitely with such threats over them.

I think you're giving them too much credit by implying they have a coherent plan for what they're doing. These are desperate pushes to find anyway to impede the club.

I agree they want to impede the club but I certainly don’t think they have a coherent plan. Hence the usual tactic of kicking the can down the road, because they can do that without any outside governance.

I think the new framework is supposed to be announced today, with the clubs now able to submit the sponsor terms to the committee for review and the approvals are supposed to be very swift.

I think fair value is like-kind brand or type of business. So tyre sponsors have a range, etc.

Isn't most of their sponsorship only paid if they're successful in winning things?

Certain i read that the full 750m from Chevrolet was conditional that they won the league and champions league or finished in the top 4 for the duration?

 

Obviously they'll still get a stupid amount, but without a trophy to show in a few years it is probably a fair bit less.

The initial drama of the takeover seems to be dying down. Soon as 1 PL club trades with us then that threat goes out the window as well.

I think it’ll end up being like the takeover where we’ll agree a deal, people will kick up a stink but eventually it’ll get passed because no one can legally stop it.

The club should agree a bumper sponsorship that falls way out of the PL's defined 'range' and when pulled up on it, ask whether they thought the surplus equals fair value for the decade of Sports Direct advertisements.

Isn't fair market value the value of the highest sonship deal +10%?

 

I'm sure I read that somewhere, not sure how true it is. So if the most valuable sponsorship is 100 million per season, that means we can have a sponsor that pays us 110 million a year!
