Seems he’s ambitious and possibly quite ruthless. Which is just what we need imo.

I would’ve backed him but I would like to see someone more ambitious than Ross Wilson come in as SD. Whoever it is, their role needs to be made clear and they need to fit the club personality wise.

Paul Mitchell was considered ambitious in fairness, and we all saw how that worked out. Personally think in the DOF role we need someone who will come in and just quietly go about their job, both Mitchell and Ashworth had a penchant to bigging themselves up to be bigger than the club.

Aye I was delighted with Mitchell. In hindsight he wasn’t a good fit for the club, and ruffled feathers.

Whoever it is, hopefully they’re more long term than the last couple

You'd think so. Never happens though, CEOs always come on a wave of 'new beginnings' and a 'fresh start' in my experience and I can't imagine it's much different in football.

Evidence has supported your theory.

Hope he’s an actual point of difference.

Some people have been asking PIF to push harder against the unfairness of PSR and, while I’d not want us to be like Chelsea this is the man to give us a harder nosed approach.

We’ve been very well behaved up to now but if we start to change tack then it’ll be clear to everyone who’s the instigator (bit like the Glazers stepping out of the limelight and putting all the focus on hobo Jim).

From reading the athletic article and listening to the guy it seems like he's the guy to increase our revenue like.

Hopefully the cost of that isnt borne solely by the fans.

Is that not Silverstone’s job?

It is, but this is Silverstone's new boss and he's cut his teeth working on a commercial basis.

If what's been said about his true, I wouldn't be surprised to see Silverstone gone and his own person brought in.

I don't know anything. But from I believe what bonk said and what I was reading his people tend to follow him. It's no unusual in the corporate world for a new leader to arrive and companies to experience significant change at executive level.

Quote

Newcastle United's commercial revenue for the year ending June 30, 2024, increased by 90% to £83.6 million. This significant growth was driven by new sponsorship deals with Sela, Noon, and Saudia, the club's five-year kit deal with Adidas, the "We Are Newcastle United" Amazon documentary, and an increase in retail and catering activities.

N-O: Should Silverstone be the first to lose his job?

I thought it was interesting in The Athletic article that they mentioned Season Ticket holders had borne the brunt of a 5% price increase

But there was no mention of the 25% price rise that members have had to stomach over the last 2 seasons. Or the £40 we have to pay just for the privilege of being able to try and buy a ticket, with no guarantee you'll ever get one

Ever get the feeling you've been cheated ?

You've got a choice. I'm a season ticket holder and I have an idea of price I'm not prepared to go beyond.

My choice would be to buy a season ticket so it costs me less money each season, I get the same seat every game, I don't have to fuck about with ballots or online queues or F5ing every couple of weeks, I get priority for cup finals, I get priority for cup games and I get the chance of going to away games.

I'd swap my situation with yours in a heartbeat

But alas, the club won't let me. And they keep jacking up the prices of match by match tickets at double the % increase of ST's, without giving us anything back in return

But you'd have a choice on what price to pay. If I wasn't a season ticket holder no way could I justify to myself paying £100 for example.

I’m not sure what you mean…

I want to go to every home game and I get tickets for every game, by hook or by crook

The price per game for the cheapest ticket is between £55-58

So let’s say £1100 a season just for the league, in the cheapest seats

Which is 25% more than it was 2 seasons ago

Plus my £40 membership
