Maybe - I wouldn't be surprised if last Summer put his nose out of joint.  According to Waugh Andy basically ran the show even though he technically was meant to be working for Nickson.  At the end of the day people come / go - it's the timing of it I am concerned about.

Maybe he’s not that far from retirement and fancies a bigger payday for the last few years of his working life? Maybe he thinks 15 years is long enough to work for the same company and fancies a new challenge. Maybe he’s shagged his way around Newcastle and needs a new challenge in the sack.

Probably sick of being dictated to by Howes nephew.

Seems like something might be a bit rotten within the setup if all these staff seem happy to jump ship at the first opportunity.

Hopefully we get his replacement right, couldn't make it up really.

This is a discussion about an employee who has been at the club for 15 years.

Timing is the issue here - if he'd said it at the start of the season I doubt most would care

When eddie first joined he seemed to be a key figure on the recruitment front for the club, but as the, seasons have gone by he seems to be used less and put on less important responsibilities.

I think this is fair. We don't actually know how important he is to the setup at this point. Could be that he's been somewhat marginalized for a while now and that's why he wants out.

Probably just that an opportunity for a more senior role has come up and he's decided to take it to advance his career.

It’s hard to say whether this will be a positive move or not. I know everyone loves jumping on the Andy Howe thing.

The only thing that is a tad concerning is that everyone seemed to be briefed he staying only to be told otherwise a couple of hours later.

Grown man in new job for a big pay rise shocker after spending 15 years at the same company and fancies a change.

95% of us would do the same, people need to chill even if the timing is a bit frustrating, but he has probably been told by West Ham that if he can't start by a certain date then they will look elsewhere, as every company does!!.

Whether this is a good or bad move is irrelevant to me, whether he's leaving on good or bad terms is mostly irrelevant to me. My primary concern is that if Andy Howe is elevated to higher positions (on merit or otherwise), are we not leaving ourselves open to conflicts of interest and massive upheaval if or when Eddie is no longer at Newcastle?

I guess you could argue if he's satisfied in the upper echelons of our backroom setup (and paid accordingly) then why would he leave if his uncle does? I think it's just a bit too murky and gives me more questions than answers.
