There is absolutely no way on earth he isn’t sat there analysing each game and sending detailed instructions through for tonight and Villa. Completely get that he needs to rest up, but we all know the type of bloke he is and he will successfully argue that sitting in bed watching videos and writing out instructions is physically restful, if not mentally.

it could hurt us not having him on touch line or changing room, but I would bet a lot of money they will be following his instructions on the training ground and sidelines, possibly even in real time if he’s watching the game and has a phone he can text from.

Tindal said in his press conference yesterday that hes barely had any communication with Eddie bar a text to say well done after the Man United game.

I think you may be underestimating the effects of pneumonia a tad there…

And Eddie said he had no update on Harvey Barnes when he was in the building having a medical.

I don’t think it’s stretching to suggest the club are being as limited as possible with info to avoid being dragged into an ethical debate about rehabilitation, when the man in charge is an obsessive workaholic and will likely become more agitated and less rested if he’s not allowed to get his point across.

Possibly. Never had it myself and can only go on reading around it and completely depends on severity and many other factors, but if he was watching the game on Sunday and sending texts after it would appear he’s lucid and aware at that point, so don’t think it’s completely crazy to think come Tuesday and Wednesday he’s on a laptop sending instructions having caught up on other action in bed.

Also cant see Eddie managing to stay away completely during the run-in, not just that type of a guy.

Do believe he hasnt been much in contact during his stay at the hospital rhough.

Particularly enjoy the ‘first caller we get and he wants academy investment and Eddie Howe’ and gets laughed off air. Shows we cannot fucking win with the trolls - we are either deluded geordies who expect to win it all or provincial know nowts. Absolutely fucking glorious the way it turned out and something I would want to show the grandkids when they follow us and we go through shitty times again. Not for a few decades yet mind!

The whole thing is just delicious. I mean, we know these people talk nonsense to get callers and engagement but it's still annoying how little they know about their subject.

In fairness I think the majority of those have back tracked on Howe and all lauded the job he’s done. No idea on them twats Cundy & O’Hara though. Suspect they probably have through gritted teeth.

I think the context of that clip is slightly misleading. I think it looks like it was right when we got took over and every uninformed media person assumed we had mega money and would attract all the big name managers and players.

So it looks like they were laughing at the first Newcastle fan to call up and be sensible and want to build realistically with youth and a manager like Howe they laughed him off because they probably thought we'd be wanting a big name and players like Mbappe. Howe had been out of work for a year or so post Bournemouth relegation.

Not that this defends them as they are still no nothing idiots and since this clip their clubs have gone backwards and we have had champions league and won a cup now. So jokes well and truly on them.

Think its way too early for this sort of talk just yet, but don't know why but have a feeling they'd appoint someone like Eddie Howe. Which, I wouldn't be overly against tbh.

Decided to go back to the beginning of the thread to see some early views. 54 was the first to comment on Howe directly and finds himself just about on the right side of history :)

Be interesting to see how he does at a club with more resources and more potential. He's obviously a brilliant coach, given how he guided lower level players into the PL.

Don't really get the clamour for Howe personally. Can see him getting a 'big' job and exposing himself as the lower league manager who did an unbelievable job with a club where he was very much woven into the fabric.

I look at it in tiers:

Tier 1- Worldies like Conte etc

Tier 2- People who would quickly take us too a higher level in the medium term, Rodgers, Emery etc.

Tier 3- Ones who we would have snapped your hand off two days ago but now seem underwhelming. Lampard, Potter, Howe.

I'm sorry.

Who was the poster on here who had a bee in his bonnet about Howe as a "special snowflake" or something similar? Gallowgate End maybe?

Ask Rafa Benitez he might know :azn:

You know the man Richard Keys and the rest of the media spend every single week bashing instead.

Even though their naive princess Eddie Howe will never get anywhere near to what Benitez has achieved in management.
