Gola Posted Monday at 19:06 Share Posted Monday at 19:06 I had it a bit ago and was off work for two weeks. Probably took me a month to feel normal again, but everyone is different.

Stifler Posted Monday at 19:15 Share Posted Monday at 19:15 (edited) I’ve had pneumonia before, and even though I have a heart condition which can magnify it, it’s not a trivial condition. Honestly before I was admitted to hospital, I was contemplating ending it. I was told that it was a virus, which it was which got worse, and that my body would fight it. I went around in circles of having migraines (and I suffered from migraines that hospitalised me as a kid), feeling sick, no energy, hot, cold, fine, over and over. Each time it got worse as the cycle went around. I was eventually admitted to hospital and put on antibiotics. I’m not kidding you, within an hour I felt so much better. All in all though I was in hospital for a week. And as much as antibiotics starts to make it go away, I’m not kidding you the recovery process was long. After a few days you begin to take deeper breaths, and it’s just so refreshing, and you feel like you have been struggling for ages. It’s literally like a weight comes off your chest. You still have no energy though, the feeling better factor gives you false sense of capabilities. You don’t have the energy to get up out of bed. You can’t do lots of little things. After I came out of hospital, I couldn’t get to my front gate without being knackered. Your lungs are still recovering and you have constant coughing and wheezing fits. After 2 weeks I begged work to let me go back, and I’m so pleased they told me that I had to take my full month off, because when I came back, I was still knackered just walking about without any pace. It literally takes months for you to start to be normal again. As an adult, it was the worst illness that I have ever had. Unless you actually experience it, you don’t know how severe it is. It’s not just a simple chest infection, it’s fucking awful. The guy next to me died one night because of it. Other people in the hospital who are otherwise well and active all hospitalised and sat in bed from it. Edited Monday at 19:23 by Stifler

My mother-in-law passed away from pneumonia at 72 last year out of the blue, she was reasonably average in terms of health, nothing untoward, hope Eddie gets well soon and the hospital treats it properly. My brother's mother-in-law had it recently. Average health like yours. It was life threatening, and it was touch and go if she would make it or not. Thankfully, she did make it and is back at home, but needs a carer 3 days of the week. Pneumonia can be a bastard if not treated early and aggressively. black_n_white
Is it possible he could take more of a backseat position for the remainder of the season as an advisor for Tindall etc when fit enough of course?
McCormick
Terrible news but was silently fearing the worst when he got admitted. We’ll miss his presence and his tactical nous for the run-in, would be agony for him and us if this meant us missing out on CL.
Dr.Spaceman
I just hope there's not a plethora of discussion around his illness being a factor if we don't qualify for the CL. He doesn't come across as the sort of person to let it affect him but it would be a bit of a shitty thing to do.

54
Newcastle United assistant manager Jason Tindall speaking before facing Crystal Palace on Eddie Howe: "That's the only update [from the club] really. We have had minimal dialogue together since the announcement. We know that he is in the best possible hands and he will be back as soon as he feels he is ready to come back 100% to lead the team. "Of course, your health is the most important thing and that is why it's so important that when Eddie decides to come back, he comes back and is able to lead the team like he does day in day out, fully recovered. And I am sure he will do that." Newcastle United assistant manager Jason Tindall on what role Eddie Howe will play in the upcoming fixtures: "We had minimal contact last week too in terms of preparations [against Manchester United]. But we know the expectations and demands we put on each other and ourselves each and every day. It's got to remain that way until the manager is back. "We know what to do and how we have to prepare in order to deliver performances that the manger will be proud of. "It's part of my job. I will do the best I possibly can in his absence. We have worked together for 17 years now, so we know what is expected of each other. Hopefully, I can deliver the same messages as he would want and hopefully he will be back as soon as possible." Yorkie
Really feel for Howe. On top of feeling unwell he'll be absolutely devastated to be forced away from the job at this time. Have faith in Tindall and the lads but assuming his absence will go beyond what is presently reported, it's inevitable that it'll effect us negatively at some point. He's already made it an incredibly memorable season and thank God this didn't happen just before the final.

There's been a lot going on behind the scenes that's nothing anywhere near as obvious as the displays - working with schools and the club and foundation as well as charities etc. Just anything that wants our involvement in essence. Which is absolutely fantastic to be honest but occasionally stretches us haha. Think the group is ready for one or two smaller displays

Yeah it will definitely have an impact, hopefully with only 8 games to go, Tindall can hold it together, but it's a big blow for sure. Obviously his health has to take precedence, we just have to hope everyone pulls together and knows their jobs.

Ellis H
There’s only about 6 weeks of the season left so I’d not be surprised at all if he’s not back till preseason. Hopefully winning the next 2 games and almost guaranteeing CL will take away any pressure he might be feeling to hurry back.
