How much higher can he realistically take Leicester on a consistent basis? If he reckons he’s going to have the resources here to challenge for the title like Staveley said is the long term goal, rather than a 4th-6th place team depending on what Arsenal and Spurs are doing, he might go for it. I think his goal at Leicester is to qualify them for the CL, that’s their long-term goal, and of course win cup competitions. To establish Leicester as a top 4/regular CL team. He’s capable, but how long that can be sustained at a club like Leicester isn’t as sustainable as it would be if he was say manager of Arsenal, Spurs and now an NUFC. I’d take him in a heartbeat, but he’s not someone you would appoint to win titles…

As it stands he has to get a lot right and I don't think he's got enough in him to do so. He managed to make a world-class side look very ordinary and has been on record saying he doesn’t have a style of play just “good football and win the ball back aggressively”. Not hyperbole to say he’d be a minuscule upgrade on what we have currently.

I mean if we're hoping to be a CL club then he needs to prove he can do that for a start. He should have had that tied up twice now, it's not like he's doing it on a budget and I'm not sure the quality or player being signed is any worse than most thr other teams around them. The other thing is that I quite like Leicester as a club, and if you turn your back on a club like that then are you really someone who I'd want at my club? Armchair Pundit
I don't really care whether the next boss in place by the Spurs game, just that Bruce is gone.

Aye but he’s still up against 4-5 clubs with far superior squads & resources.

geordie_b
Would certainly make not having my ST easier to accept, however ive full confidence that it wont happen. I guess this is what a world without apathy feels like, anything (in theory) can happen again. Edited October 12, 2021 by geordie_b
HaydnNUFC
Conte, Rodgers, Favre, Fonseca, Potter, Howe, Lampard is the order of preference for me. Just approach Conte and give him what he asks for, if he turns us down he turns us down. Likewise with Rodgers/Leicester.

Guest reefatoon
Oof, Lampard. Roll on the next takeover. Seriously though, that would be a fucking awful appointment.
duo
I know we've got to be realistic with regards expectation considering where we are in the table and our current squad as to who we could attract but Lampard is a disaster waiting to happen. You'd be better off sticking with Jones.
Andy
Wouldn't be thrilled with Lampard, but would 100% get behind him or basically any other manager who isn't Bruce. We have to be somewhat realistic and consider that our top managerial targets might not fancy the relegation scrap this season, no matter the money involved. That’s fair enough but if that’s the case we could still do better than Lampard (not that I believe the express article)
54
I also don't think Lampard is as bad as some are saying too mind, got a clearly underfunded Derby close to getting promoted, and got Chelsea into the Champions League despite not being able to sign anyone. He wouldnt be my first choice, not in the slightest, but dont think it'd be particularly awful.
Nepharite
https://youtu.be/r6fZ7lx7qNY Quite like the way this lad talks about our club/situation. Hes released a couple of videos on us now.
SUPERTOON
I’ll get behind any manager (unless they keep Bruce) simply because they will be judged on form and sacked if they aren’t good enough
ianovthetoon
The irony is if we’d been offered Lampard over Bruce this time last week I’d have snapped your hand off. Amazing what a bit of coin does

Think Lampard's reputation is getting an incredibly hard ride based on limited information. Like you, I'd be fairly surprised if we can bring in a Conte style appointment straight away. Would be absolutely fine with an interim appointment to keep us up this year. Would probably prefer a Potter to Lampard if being picky, but ultimately think in getting Bruce out we'll ride a wave of positivity which will see us safe. Miggys First Goal
It might not be Lampard, but I think we need to accept the fact that we might have to be happy with a transitional manager to begin with. We might not get the superstars we all want immediately.
